You Really Need to Try The Polite Pig for Lunch
Disney Springs is home to many amazing restaurants. Unfortunately, most of these restaurants are table service and require a reservation which can make it tough to eat at these places. Luckily, there are a select few in Disney Springs that are quick service and don’t require a reservation, one of these being The Polite Pig.
Despite being a quick service restaurant, many people think the quality of food at The Polite Pig is up to par with, if not better than, the food at the table service restaurants at Disney Springs. I’ve always loved The Polite Pig, so I went again recently to see if it’s just as good as I remember.
My Initial Reaction
When I first arrived at The Polite Pig, the first thing that stood out to me was the amount of people there. Despite there being fewer than normal people at Disney Springs due to the pandemic, The Polite Pig was still relatively crowded.
I also noticed how the restaurant was making sure customers stayed 6 feet away from each other, and also had employees filling up drinks, as to not have so many people contacting the same surface.
I was happy to see the restaurant being safe and following all the guidelines during this unique time.
The Atmosphere
The Polite Pig is much more of a casual restaurant than some of the other establishments you’ll find in Disney Springs. You get to sit yourself, either inside or outside.
It has a smaller dining room so it can fill up quickly, but if you can’t find a seat you can always place the order “to go” and find seating anywhere else in the area.
Ordering is an easy process too. As I mentioned earlier, this is a quick service restaurant so you go up to the counter like a fast food restaurant and place your order there. Then once you are seated, your order is brought right to you.
The Food
The Polite Pig is known for having an amazing barbecue-style selection of meals. Being a huge fan of barbecue, I knew I needed to try out one of the sandwiches.
I ended up ordering a Polite Caesar Salad and a Southern Pig Sandwich, which includes Pulled Pork, Fennel-apple Slaw, tangy Mustard BBQ and Duke’s Mayo served with a Pickle Spear.
After waiting for about 10 minutes, my food finally came out and I was surprised. Not because of the sandwich, but because of my salad. Despite being a starter, it was huge!
But I love a good Caesar Salad, so I finished the entire thing easily. Then I had my sandwich, which was just as good as I remember. Despite my meal being so filling I was able to finish the entire thing because it was just so good.
Overall Review
My final conclusion on The Polite Pig is that it is not only one of the most underrated restaurants in Disney Springs, it is one of the most underrated restaurants in Walt Disney World. Not a lot of people talk about it but it is a very quick, easy, and delicious dining experience.
With a very expansive menu, even the pickiest of eaters will find something they love here. If you love barbecue, or just great food in general, The Polite Pig at Disney Springs is a must try.
