DeSantis Says 260 Orlando Airport Employees Test Positive For COVID-19 Airport Says Not True
Governor Ron DeSantis set shockwaves through Orlando when he reported yesterday that out of 500 Airport employees that have been tested for COVID-19, 260 of those tests came back positive.
This would certainly be enough for things at Orlando International Airport to grind to a screeching halt, provided that they information were true. There seems to be a massive discrepancy between what DeSantis reported yesterday and the actually testing data from Orlando’s busiest airport.

ClickOrlando.com reported on the figures with a direct quote from Governor DeSantis, “[An]Airport in Central Florida had a couple of cases, they did the contract tracing. They looked [at] almost 500 workers [and] 260 people working close together were positive, 52 percent positivity rate on that one.”
With over 2,780 new cases of coronavirus reported in Florida on Tuesday these stats coming from the Florida Governor are alarming indeed. However, word has been trickling in that figures might not be entirely accurate.
Before everyone in Orlando goes nuts — this data is NOT accurate. Waiting on some final numbers. Will have an update soon. https://t.co/222jguKYly

The fact that this data seems to be inaccurate is also corroborated by Lauren Seabrook.
Yesterday, @GovRonDeSantis said 260 of 500 employees at a “central Florida airport” tested positive for #COVID19. That was alarming to hear and we’ve been working to confirm which airport. We now have clarification from @MCO about that number and it’s not exactly what it seems. pic.twitter.com/Buh99ZCiz9

As you can see from the information published by Lauren Seabrook taken from the Greater Orlando Aviation authority, it would appear that only 2 people out of the 500 tested were diagnosed as having COVID-19, not the 200+ reported by the Governor DeSantis.
At the moment this seems to be a factual error from the Governor’s office, particularly since the data tells a different story. However, this is a story that we here at MickeyBlog will continue to follow closely. Readers are encouraged to keep following along and we’ll keep you posted.
