Where to Stay Wednesday – DIsney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
This resort is a hidden gem and truly evokes the timeless beauty of the American frontier! There are some unique options for where to lay your head at night and some amazing offerings at this resort. Let me see if I can keep this to a top 5 for you!
5 top reasons why I love this resort:
1. Deer and rabbits and ducks!
Oh my! If you are camping amidst this pine and cypress forest you may even see an armadillo roaming around. The campsites range from tent sites to 45-foot RV sites. The landscaping around this resort is both gorgeous on the eyes and helps to keep the campsites private from one another.
2. Dinner Shows!!
There are not only one, but two dinner show options at Disney’s Fort Wilderness! You can enjoy two hours of comedy, singing and Wild West dancing while you dine on all-you-care-to-enjoy buckets of fried chicken, BBQ ribs, sides and dessert at the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue! Or, scoot on down to Mickey’s Backyard BBQ for…not only BBQ…but a good old fashion hoedown complete with Disney characters! Both dinner shows are amazing and located right at the resort!
3. Train to be Merida!
The recreation options at this resort are unique and you could train to shoot archery just like Merida! You can sign up for a 90-minute archery program where guests age 7 and up will learn how to hold, aim and fire a compound bow! This resort offers so many ways to experience the great outdoors! You can also enjoy horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, wagon rides, horse-drawn carriage rides, fishing, Segway rides, amazing walking/jogging trails, playgrounds, volleyball, basketball, bike rentals, boat rentals, movies under the stars and my favorite…Chip ’N’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long!
4. Lady and/or the Tramp welcome here!
And as Tramp prefers it, there are even opportunities to be off of that leash! Resort guests with pet privileges must keep their pet on a handheld leash when enjoying the many on-leash trails, but furry guests are welcome to also enjoy some off-leash time at the Waggin’ Trails Dog Park! I love the pet-friendly policy at this resort!
5. Two pools!
Meadow Swimmin’ or Wilderness Swimmin’…that is the question. You have two options for cooling off and relaxing during your stay here. The Meadow Swimmin’ Pool features a 67-foot-long corkscrew waterslide and a fort-themed water play area for the little ones! The Wilderness Swimmin’ Pool is a leisure pool for all ages for a more tranquil swim. Both pools feature whirlpool spas where you can relax and enjoy the beauty of mother nature.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort…you simply MUST make time to enjoy this resort while on your Walt Disney World vacation. Endless opportunities!
