Disney Park Visits Will Be Even Better When They Re-Open Because…
I love Disney theme parks more than any sane man probably should. I’d guess that 40 percent of my wardrobe involves Disney characters or official resort logos. So, I miss the parks as much as anybody. I do have some good news, though. Disney theme parks will be even better when they return because…
Absence Has Made Our Hearts Grow Fonder
Let’s start with a few obvious reasons. Disney theme parks remain open every day of the year. Even when one closes for some unfortunate reason like a hurricane or an earthquake, the rest remain unaffected.
Since Shanghai Disneyland opened, at least five parks have operated every day until now. That’s a lot of different theme park options. For years now, we’ve taken that amount of freedom for granted.
Now, the situation has changed. Disney parks closed due to Coronavirus concerns. And now, our love for Disney is akin to the emotion we feel toward our favorite ex. We don’t remember anything but the good times, and we’re desperate to get back together soon.
Nobody fully realized how much we rely on Disney parks until they shut down. Times are so tough that the Happiest Place on Earth has locked its gates. That’s not even a metaphor; it’s a fact! The moment that those gates re-open, Disney fans around the world will rejoice. The euphoria alone will make our next visit better than before.
Excited Cast Members
I’m unabashedly fanatical about Disney cast members, the kindest and most gifted employees on the planet. These people take less money to work at the theme parks because they find satisfaction in entertaining others.
Yes, cast members live to put smiles on faces. With the parks closed, these folks haven’t had to do the thing that makes them happiest. So, when the parks re-open, cast members will relish new opportunities to sprinkle a bit of Pixie dust on guests.
Expect even more random acts of kindness as you roam the parks. Cast members have a lot of pent-up goodwill to share with you!
Cleaner than Ever
When Disney parks return, they will look a bit different. The COVID-19 outbreak has changed all of us in a way that’s hopefully temporary but probably isn’t. We all know the dangers of germs better than ever now.
In the past, we all looked the other way rather than consider all the places where we touched the same things in line queues and on rides. Similarly, Disney didn’t do the best job of killing bacteria on these spots. It always seemed like a necessary concession about bacteria in public places.
Moving forward, hygiene will take the highest priority at Disney theme parks. If a cast member notices a kid doing something unpleasant with their, let’s say, hands, the Disney employee will act more responsibly.
Similarly, hand sanitizers and other germ-killing products will become a standard part of a park visit. These changes are actually long overdue, but they hadn’t happened yet due to a lack of customer demand. Future Disney trips will come with fewer germs!
Kinder Park Guests
My wife and I have a running joke about strollers and electric convenience vehicles (ECVs). Due to my height, I’ve always qualified as something of a target for a few ill-mannered guests. They drive up to, around, and sometimes even through me on the way to their next location. I might as well have a bullseye on my back. And I know that I’m not the only one who feels this way.
Sadly, some park guests think only of themselves and their immediate needs. So, they berate cast members and run over other park visitors. It’s unbecoming behavior that’s baked into a day at any theme park.
Now that people have been stuck in their homes for a while, they should demonstrate more patience when interacting with others. In fact, I expect more civility overall in the wake of this unprecedented event.
The Walking Won’t Seem So Bad
How much have you exercised recently? Come on, be honest! If the answer is more than zero, you’re doing better than a lot of people I know. Most folks have become extreme couch potatoes during the Great Shut-In. Exercise is one of those things that they vaguely remember from the Before Time when people gathered socially.
For this reason, your next park visit won’t seem so bad when you crisscross. In the past, all the walking would have done a number on your feet, especially if you wore the wrong shoes. Now, you’ll have no qualms about walking 15,000 steps or more. You know that you need the movement! You’ll have a terrific time walking everywhere.
New Imagineering Tricks
My expectation is that Disney will bring back its staff for at least a few days before the parks re-open. The company will need to prepare for the influx of customers. And this aspect provides a hidden advantage for Disney lovers.
Imagineers are always thinking about their jobs. In fact, the creation of Soarin’ famously involved a brainstorming session at a family gathering. The cast member couldn’t stop thinking about a work problem and found a solution while rifling through old toys.
During this unprecedented closure, Imagineers will enjoy a rare opportunity. They can actually work on projects without the interference of guests. Many Disney assignments occur overnight during the third shift, a time when the parks are closed.
If employees could work around the clock, they could get lots more Imagineering tricks implemented. I strongly suspect that Disney will introduce at least a few pleasant surprises when the parks return. Finding them will make the entire park visit feel new and fresh.
The Return of Live Streams
Okay, some of us won’t get to visit the parks the moment that they open. For those of us who can’t get to Orlando and Anaheim, we must live vicariously through livestreaming.
Sure, we can watch old clips of our favorite YouTubers right now – and we do! – but there’s nothing better than a live shot, especially when it’s a first. The day that Disney theme parks return, we can watch the celebration as it happens thanks to livestreams. And that guarantees that we all get to feel like a part of the festivities!
In short, Disney theme parks will come back better than ever. If you want to experience it for yourself, speak with an agent at MickeyTravels to book your next trip.
