It was announced in August 2019, that the 33-year-old son of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell would be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
His character, Walker, was first introduced in the comics in 1986 as somewhat of a villain called Super Patriot. Later on, he replaces Captain America as a government-sanctioned superhero and eventually becomes known as U.S. Agent.
The TV series follows Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) directly following the events of the 2019 movie “Avengers: Endgame,” in which Captain America has passed his shield along to Wilson a.k.a. Falcon.
Series Hits Disney+ In August
Over at DisInsider, our friend Skyler Schuler added:
Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are reprising their roles as Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes. Emily VanCamp is also officially to return, VanCamp originated the role of Sharon Carter in Captain America: The Winter Soldier before reprising her part in Civil War. Daniel Bruhl will also return as Baron Zemo. Also joining the series in unknown roles are Desmond Chiam, Miki Ishikawa, and Adepero Oduye.
All six episodes of the miniseries, which will air in August 2020, will be directed by Emmy nominee Kari Skogland (The Handmaids Tale, The Punisher), with Derek Kolstad (John Wick) apart of the writing team. There are reports that surfaced that the series could have some sort of massive viral threat, and will introduce the villain turned hero team The Thunderbolts.
I loved this report. Not only do we get a little bit of intrigue as to what U.S. Agent will become, but we get a hint as to how The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will dovetail into Avengers: Endgame. Great stuff.
