‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Surpasses $500 Million at the Box Office
Just four days after the film hit theaters, Deadpool & Wolverine has surpassed the $500 million mark at the global box office.
After a record-breaking opening weekend, the latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) kept the momentum going with a strong Monday.
At the international box office, Deadpool & Wolverine earned another $26.5 million, bringing its overseas total to $260.5 million. Monday’s result was 13% of its debut weekend.
A Record-Breaking Debut
Disney originally reported that Deadpool & Wolverine made $438.3 million at the box office before increasing that total to $441.1.
The latter number pushes the Marvel film past 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water ($439 million) for the highest global opening weekend since 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Top International Markets
According to Deadline, the top 10 international markets for Deadpool & Wolverine have been China ($27.6 million), the United Kingdom ($25 million), Mexico ($21.5 million), Australia ($14.1 million), Brazil ($10.8 million), India ($10.6 million), Germany ($10.5 million), France ($10.3 million), Korea ($8.9 million) and Italy ($8.5 million). Those figures do not include Tuesday’s numbers.
Any way you slice it, Deadpool & Wolverine is a massive success for Marvel Studios at a time when Kevin Feige and his team needed a win.
The film crushed both the domestic and international record for an opening by an R-rated movie and is showing no signs of slowing down.
After a difficult year at the box office in 2023, Marvel could soon have another $1 billion film on their hands.
Perhaps then, reports of the studio’s demise were a bit premature.
Deadpool & Wolverine is in theaters now.
