National Hurricane Center Increases the Odds of a Tropical System Developing
If you have been following MickeyBlog, you know that we have been tracking the early formation of this tropical system.
Over the last few days, meteorologists have provided updates on its development, and as of 8 AM today, the National Hurricane Center has released new information.
8 am EDT: A large tropical wave centered several hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles is producing limited shower activity due to environmental dry air. The National Hurricane Center just increased the odds of a system developing in the Atlantic to 60% and that it could turn into the season’s next tropical depression.
The projected path could threaten Florida.
Latest Weather Update
An area of disturbed weather located in the central Atlantic has been absorbed into a fast-moving tropical wave located just east of the Caribbean’s lesser Antilles.

For now, there is only limited shower activity because of the dry air, but conditions are forecast to develop in intesnity as it approaches warmer waters.
Yesterday, the NHC predicted a 50% chance of development within the next week; today, the percentage has been upped to a 60% chance.
Forecasters are monitoring the wave, which is moving west at around 17 mph.

The projected path has shifted slightly north in the last 24 hours. However, Florida’s entire peninsula remains in the potential path.
There are many unknown factors at this point, though meteorologists are monitoring the situation closely. The system could remain disorganized and out in the Atlantic, but it also has the potential to develop into the fourth tracked system of the 2024 Hurricane season.
