Who Got Hurt at Disney Last Quarter…and How?
Each quarter, the state of Florida reports all the various theme park incidents that require medical attention.
On July 17th, 2024, the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (FDACS) listed incidents during the most recent quarter.

Since the FDACS publishes this quarterly, it’s often not an extensive list.
While millions of travelers flock to Florida theme parks each month, the parks have safeguarded their attractions.

As such, most medical reports are mild, although at least one theme park skirted the line a few years ago.
Universal Orlando Resort got in big trouble for reporting a paralyzing injury as a minor accident.

Thankfully, that’s a rare instance of a cover-up. Generally, the theme park injury report is transparent and honest.
From April through June, Disney World reported six incidents, an average of two per month.

When reading this list, you’ll notice a couple of things. First, half the incidents occurred on calmer Disney attractions.
We’re talking about Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Frozen Ever After, and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

Also, here’s Humunga Kowabunga if you’re unfamiliar with it:
That’s not the kind of water ride where you’d worry about getting injured, but weird things happen sometimes.
Overall, most of these incidents reflect pre-existing conditions that were somehow triggered while on Disney rides. It’s bad luck more than anything.

TRON Lightcycle/Run
Also, I give a shout-out to the 76-year-old who hopped on TRON Lightcycle / Run.
You’re my kind of thrill ride fan! I hope you’re feeling better.

To a larger point, presuming that everything is as reported, this was a relatively mild quarter for theme park injuries.
Disney’s stringent safety precautions remain the industry’s gold standard.
