Walt Disney World Wait Times for Second Week of July 2024
We’re in mid-July now, and you can check the thermometer if you don’t believe me.
Across North America, scorching temperatures have been the story, and Orlando is no different.
During July, the high temperature has been at least 92 degrees on all but one day. Overall, the average high in July 2024 is 95 degrees.
Is the extreme heat having an impact at the parks during what should be one of the busiest times of the year?
Let’s find out! Here are Walt Disney World’s average wait times for the second week of July 2024.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
The summer season goes faster than ever at Disney.
With many schools not ending until early June and starting back in early August, there’s a compressed calendar.
Basically, we’ve got eight to ten weeks of summer family vacations.
Theoretically, that’s when the parks should be the most crowded outside of the December holiday season.
Thus far in 2024, those crowds really haven’t materialized, though.
For that matter, anecdotally, I’ve heard plenty of comments that this week was less crowded than usual, too.
Some of that could be the sweltering heat keeping the casuals away.
Then again, it could be a few lucky people visiting the at the perfect time.
Let’s find out by examining Animal Kingdom’s wait times for the week:
- Avatar Flight of Passage – 87 minutes, up 5
- Na’vi River Journey – 57 minutes, up 1
- Kali River Rapids – 53 minutes, no change
- Expedition Everest – 41 minutes, no change
- Adventurers Outpost – 40 minutes, up 4
- DINOSAUR – 30 minutes up 7
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – 27 minutes, up 2
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug! – 10 minutes, no change
- TriceraTop Spin – 9 minutes, up 1

Overall, guests at Animal Kingdom stood in line for an average of 40 minutes, which is three minutes more than last time.
So, crowds increased some, but we’re still quite low for a typical July.

I mean, I consider a 27-minute wait for Kilimanjaro Safaris one of the best value propositions at Disney World. I’d take that any time!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
I had someone swear to me that they only waited in line for 35 minutes at Slinky Dog Dash at 2 p.m. the other day.
At the time, I wondered if they’d known how much they’d won the lottery.
Idly, I also debated whether Hollywood Studios may be way down this week. So, is it that, or was my friend lucky?
Here are the park’s average wait times last week:
- Slinky Dog Dash – 76 minutes, up 4
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – 66 minutes, up 7
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith – 65 minutes, down 2
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 60 minutes, up 4
- Toy Story Mania! – 53 minutes, up 4
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 52 minutes, up 3
- Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – 51 minutes, down 2
- Alien Swirling Saucers – 37 minutes, up 6
- Red Carpet Dreams – 37 minutes, up 3

Overall, Hollywood Studios attractions required an average wait of 38 minutes, which is three minutes more than last time.
First, my friend was quite lucky…almost comically so. But that reinforces the fact that anything can happen during a Disney visit.

Also, I’ll add that in July 2021-2023, seven attractions typically averaged hourlong waits.
This past week, it was only four, with three others in the 50-53 minutes range.

Either Disney is managing traffic better or crowds are lower…or both.
EPCOT

So, the parks did tick up a bit, but it was a modest change from last time.
Folks, I do think the weather is playing a factor in holding down Disney crowds this summer.
