Whoopi Goldberg did the one thing Disney fans should never do.
The beloved actress, hostess, and comedian recently confessed to something gross.

Disney
After reading this article, you may never look at an iconic Disney attraction the same way again.
Don’t Do What Whoopi Did

During an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the co-host of The View confessed her darkest Disney secret.
Apparently, Goldberg’s mother loved a certain Disney attraction.

Tragically, Emma Harris, Goldberg’s mother, passed away in 2010 at the age of 78.
She’d suffered a stroke and was in poor condition at the end.
Goldberg tried to comfort her mother in her final months, a topic she discussed in her memoir, Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me.
Goldberg made some promises she intended to keep after her mother’s demise, and one of them is going to make you deeply uncomfortable.

I’ve previously written about the odd problem Disney Cast Members face when it comes to deceased loved ones.
Some people want to spend their eternity at The Happiest Place on Earth.

Apparently, Emma Harris was one of those people. You can see where I’m going with this.
Yes, Whoopi Goldberg has developed the habit of spreading her mother’s ashes at various spots at Disneyland.

The iconic entrance of Disneyland Park
According to Goldberg herself, she would scoop up some of her mother’s ashes and sprinkle them at places like the flowers that spell “Disneyland.”
While the fans who do this generally favor attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean and especially Haunted Mansion, apparently Goldberg’s mother preferred a different ride.
So, the comedian dumped parts of her mother throughout “it’s a small world.”
Defending Whoopi
Let’s be clear that dealing with human ashes isn’t part of the reason people want to work for Disney.
Cast Members live in fear of this particular assignment, but it does happen.
Depending upon who you believe, it might be a monthly occurrence at Haunted Mansion.
I know, I try not to think about it, either, although I guess it is thematic.

Disney
In Goldberg’s defense, she was more thoughtful about it than most.
The actress confessed that she told Cast Members she did it, partially out of guilt, and partially for fear that she’d done something dangerous.

She added, “There’s a reason they don’t want ashes just floating around.”
Also, Goldberg specifically warned others, “No one should do this. Don’t do it.”
So, that’s good, although telling millions of people on a television show that she did it sends a mixed message.
Anyway, Goldberg had justification for her actions.
Her mother loved “it’s a small world” for pure reasons.
“It was her vision of what human beings should be. These children of the world: all colors, religions, and cultures together. Disney had made it seem possible that all the kids of the world would hold hands in unity.”

Now, some might argue that trapping someone’s ashes in “it’s a small world” sounds like something that would happen in the Bad Place.
Goldberg sounds perfectly at peace with her decision, though.

However, she did add that the Cast Members weren’t happy when they learned of her actions. Go figure.
Friends, please don’t do what Whoopi Goldberg did… especially not at “it’s a small world.”
