Welcome to the Thunderdome: Disney Dome Cakes
In the past few years, we’ve noticed that Disney is getting very comfortable with mousse molds and having a lot of fun trying new flavors.
Mickey dome cakes are becoming increasingly available throughout Walt Disney World.

What is a Dome Cake?
Dome cakes are a half circle cake that is mousse with a cake base, and has a glazed outer covering. To make them more magical, Disney likes to add 2 little chocolate wafers for ears.
Where to Find Disney Dome Cakes?
Not only are dome cakes delicious, they are so Instagrammable. We have noticed them popping up everywhere!

Disney Springs
You can always find a Mickey dome cake over at Amorette’s Patisserie in the Marketplace in Disney Springs.
The appearance of these dome cakes change with the seasons! The basic Mickey Mouse Mousse Cake can be found for $9, and is described as a Chocolate Chiffon Cake, Dark Chocolate Mousse and White Chocolate Mousse.

Full size character dome cakes are now available at Amorette’s! You can feed a crowd with these full size characters available in Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto for $59 each.
As different as each cake looks on the outside, it’s unfortunate that they are all the same on the inside. Each character dome cake is a choice of 1: Chocolate Chiffon Cake, Milk Chocolate Mousse and Orange Pate De Fruit Jelly OR Lemon Chiffon Cake, White Chocolate Mousse and Strawberry Pate De Fruit Jelly.

Magic Kingdom
One of the last places you would expect a delicate looking dome cake is the place where antlers are used in their decorating, but that’s just the way the cookie crumbled.

It seems that Gaston’s is cycling through the Fab Five in dome cakes. In December there was the 50th Celebration Mickey Dome Cake. In February, we saw a Donald Duck lemon blueberry dome cake. And now, our pal Goofy is getting some love!
For Summer 2022, Gaston’s Tavern is offering a Goofy dome cake that has Dark Chocolate Mousse with Orange Curd insert and Candied Orange Peel on top of Chocolate Flourless Cake.

The Friar’s Nook
There has been a lot of Mr. Toad food references this year. There was the brat burger, the crumble pudding cup, the slushy, and then there was the Peanut Butter Mr. Toad cake.
It didn’t stick around long, but it does definitely beg the question, what’s the deal with Mr. Toad this year?

Behold, the Glimmer and Shimmer Pineapple Mousse. Okay, so it’s a bit of a stretch to call this a dome cake, but it is roundish and is mousse-based.
This is totally different from the chocolate based mousse cakes with pineapple mousse on a toasted coconut crisp with caramel cream and matcha sponge cake.
Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom is now home for the next generation of 50th Celebration dome cake. This version has a brownie base with gold-dusted chocolate sprinkles, and birthday cake flavored mousse.
We’re not exactly sure what birthday cake flavor really is, but it’s sweet and delicious.
While visiting the planet of Pandora you can enjoy a Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse cake. No, there’s no Mickey ears on these cakes, but you will find a blueberry cream cheese mousse with a passion fruit curd.
Our question is…where are they getting the cheese from on Pandora? Are there blue Pandora cows?

Celebration Cakes

Are you celebrating a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary? You can order a special milk or white chocolate Mickey celebration cake at any Disney owned and operated restaurant for $39.
That price might be a bit of a shock since other Disney dome cakes are between $6.50 – $9, but the Disney Celebration dome Mickey is large enough to serve 4-6 people.
