Full Guide to Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point
While Disney’s Castaway Cay has been Disney Cruise Line’s private island destination since 1997, Disney is now introducing a NEW island destination — Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point!
We were invited to join the very first sailing to Lookout Cay, located on the island of Eleuthera in The Bahamas, which took place on June 6, 2024. Now we’re here with a full breakdown of what to expect from this new island spot!
Note that we’ll be updating this post as we explore the island, so make sure to keep checking back for more content!
Disembarking
We were scheduled to disembark at Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point at 10:30AM, which was visible in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app.
You get 7 hours and 15 minutes on the island!
The Navigator app also listed all of the activities available at Lookout Cay, including the Disney Fun in the Sun Beach Bash, which features Disney friends.
30-minute Island Crafts are available for all ages at the Goombay Culture Center at 12:30PM and 2:30PM.
The Sights and Sounds of Junkanoo Workshop takes place at the Goombay Cultural Center at 11:15AM and 1:15PM.
RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration features a local Junkanoo group leading a procession to the Goombay Cultural Center. This celebration takes place at 12PM and 2PM.
At the Lookout Cay Discovery Trail, anyone can participate in the self-paced scavenger hunt!
Such finds include local wildlife, flora, geography, and arts and culture.
There are also activities specifically organized for tweens and teens, like the Disney Lookout Cay Seek and Find, which tasks tween participants with finding a list of items around the island before the timer runs out!
Sand Creature Creations are available for teens at the Play-Play Pavilion at 2PM. This activity shows teens how to create sand sculptures of animals indigenous to Eleuthera.
And here’s the map of Lookout Cay!
Now that we’ve reviewed the map and activities, let’s head onto the island!
Arrival
Disney promptly opened the doors of the ship at 10:30AM. Note that the walkway is about 1/2 mile from Lookout Cay.
The island looks BEAUTIFUL, and check out that water!
The arrival point of Lookout Cay is known as Mabrika Cove. The word “mabrika” means “welcome” in Taino, which is the language of the Indigenous people of The Bahamas, the Lucayans.
To get to the other side of the island, you must take a tram from Mabrika Cove to the Goombay Cultural Center tram stop.
The tram ride is about 8 minutes, and it’s not a walkable distance — so you have to take the tram.
Disney previously shared that they worked closely with “Bahamian artists and advisors to create a destination that represents the natural beauty and rich culture of The Bahamas, brought to life through Disney storytelling and the unparalleled service of local cast and crew.”
Disney also noted that Lookout Cay “pays tribute to the beauty of nature” and features “distinctive, sweeping architecture in bright, saturated hues” and “artistic expressions of the native flora and fauna of The Bahamas and the pageantry and history of Junkanoo parades.”
“Curvilinear buildings” line the store, resembling shells on the beach. There are also numerous references to Bahamian folklore characters.
