A Profanity-Laced PSA From Deadpool and Wolverine May Be Coming to a Movie Theater Near You
Audiences at last week’s CinemaCon were both bemused and bewildered when Disney’s presentation began with a profanity-laced PSA from Deadpool and Wolverine about the importance of silencing their phones.
The bit began with Deadpool telling Wolverine his theories for Marvel Studios’ upcoming crossover film Avengers: Secret Wars. Every time the Merc with the Mouth began to pontificate, however, he was interrupted by a cell phone ringing. Eventually, Wolverine had enough.
“Not Your Grandma’s Nursing Home”
Jackman’s iconic X-Man then addressed the camera directly and delivered a profane rant on the importance of audiences silencing their cell phones. The movie theater, he continued, is “not your grandma’s nursing home.” Eventually, Deadpool was able to calm him down.
Following the spot’s CinemCon debut, The Hollywood Reporter says that Marvel plans to play the clip in theaters. For now, however, they are keeping it quiet.
‘Deapool & Wolverine’
With Deadpool & Wolverine set to be the only Marvel film to hit theaters this year, Disney is pulling out all the stops. So, move over, Nicole Kidman — there is a new movie theater policeman in town, and his name is Wolverine!
I, for one, can’t wait to see what Marvel has cooked up for Deadpool and Wolverine ahead of their film’s release. Disney seems to believe that it has a sure-fire hit on its hands, and the early results are promising.
Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theaters on July 26.
