Paul Bettany Confirms He Will Return to the MCU as Vision
While Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff may have concluded her Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) journey, it sounds like her WandaVision co-star Paul Bettany will be back.
Bettany, of course, has portrayed Vision since the synthetic being was created in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
While Vision was killed by Thanos during the events of Avengers: Infinity War, the character was resurrected by Wanda Maxmioff’s magic for WandaVision.
The WandaVision version of Vision was eventually revealed to be a construct of Wanda’s grieving imagination. S.W.O.R.D eventually reassembled the broken parts of Vision’s corpse and created a new all-white version of the hero.
While White Vision was initially sent into Westview to kill Wanda and her imaginary Vision, his memories were eventually restored, and he fled the scene instead. Got all that??
The point is that Vision’s MCU story could theoretically continue should Bettany be willing to reprise his role. Luckily, it sounds like he is.
Bettany Says He Will Return
During a spotlight panel at Megacon 2024, Bettany was directly asked by a fan if he would be returning to the MCU.
Can you tell us anything, in any way, shape, or form, will Vision return? Are you going to return in the MCU,” the fan asked.
“Uh……yeah,” Bettany cautiously said as the audience erupted in applause. “Why wouldn’t I? Yes, 100%.”
While we don’t know whether Vision’s return will come in a streaming series or movie, it is great to hear that Bettany plans on returning. For years, rumors have circulated that a WandaVision sequel titled Vision Quest was being considered by Marvel. Whether or not a full-fledged Vision series comes to fruition, the Avenger’s story will continue.
