After an extended refurbishment, Walt Disney World Railroad’s Roger E. Broggie train returned to Magic Kingdom last fall.

Our team spotted the historic locomotive on the tracks of the Walt Disney World Railroad today. Let’s check it out!
Roger E. Broggie Train Returns to Magic Kingdom
It’s been five years since the No. 3 Roger E. Broggie train was transported to Strasburg, Pennsylvania for refurbishment. But the train looked as good as new today in Magic Kingdom as it chugged along the tracks!
The 10-wheeler steam locomotive was built in 1925. Until Disney acquired the train in 1969, it was used to transport passengers and goods through the mountains of Mexico’s Yucatán peninsula.
Today, the refurbished train rejoins the No. 1 Walter E. Disney, No. 2 Lilly Belle, and No. 4 Roy O. Disney trains on the Walt Disney World Railroad.
MickeyBlog reporters confirmed that the train was in testing today, carrying Disney Cast Members throughout the park.
Who was Roger E. Broggie?
Most Disney fans know that Walt Disney had a deep love of trains. In fact, his lifelong fascination with the locomotive would eventually spark the creation of the Walt Disney World Railroad.
However, many Disney fans aren’t familiar with the name on the side of the railroad’s No. 3 train.
As Walt Disney’s original Imagineer, Roger E. Broggie had a hand in a wide variety of Disney’s early projects.
However, Broggie’s largest contribution is widely considered to be his role in the development of the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Railroads.
A talented mechanical engineer, Broggie also found and acquired the trains that would eventually make up the Walt Disney World Railroad. As a result of his hard work and dedication, the No. 3 train was named the Roger E. Broggie in his honor.
