Pedro Pascal Is Reportedly Set to Play Reed Richards in ‘Fantastic Four’
Pedro Pascal may soon be trading in a galaxy far, far away for another pop culture behemoth.
After months of speculation over who will play Reed Richards in the upcoming Marvel Studios’ film Fantastic Four, Pascal is reportedly close to signing on for the role.
According to Deadline, the scheduling is still being worked out, but negotiations are heading in the right direction.
In addition to his work on The Mandalorian, Pascal has other upcoming commitments with Gladiator 2, The Last of Us, and Zach Cregger’s Weapons.
While Pascal’s involvement in Fantastic Four is not official yet, the cast will likely be announced soon. Marvel plans on beginning shooting on Fantastic Four early next year.
The Fantastic Four Will Carry the MCU Forward
Outside of perhaps the X-Men, the Fantastic Four are the biggest characters that have not made their MCU appearance.
Earlier this year, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige stated that he expects the Fantastic Four to be a “big pillar of the MCU going forward, just the way they’ve been in the comics for 50 or 60 years.”
“Fantastic Four is the foundation for everything that came after in the comics,” Feige said in February. “There’s certainly been versions of it [on screen], but never inhabiting the storytelling of the MCU. And that’s something that is really exciting for us.”
A variant of Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic previously appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In that film, Richards was played by John Krasinski.
Fantastic Four will be directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision) and written by Josh Friedman. The film is scheduled to be released on May 2, 2025.
