REVIEW: Should You Visit Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom?
Who’s ready to stop by an underrated Magic Kingdom restaurant??
Liberty Tree Tavern, tucked away in the Liberty Square area of Magic Kingdom, serves an all-you-care-to-enjoy (aka all-you-can-eat) menu in an atmosphere that will remind you of colonial America, particularly Colonial Williamsburg. We decided to pay the restaurant a visit and here’s what we thought!
Menu
Liberty Tree Tavern is an original Magic Kingdom restaurant that opened with the park on October 1st, 1971. While it was initially a character dining experience, it later converted into a more traditional restaurant.
Liberty Tree Tavern is open from 11AM to 9PM on most days, and kids (ages 3-9) cost $23 each while adults cost $42 each. On the menu are traditional New England-inspired eats, and if you’re American, the menu may remind you of Thanksgiving dinner.
There are six different dining rooms themed to U.S. historical figures, including George Washington, Betsy Ross, Paul Revere, John Paul Jones, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin.
The menu includes appetizers such as the Declaration Salad, and for your entree, you get the Patriot’s Platter, which includes a variety of popular Thanksgiving dishes.
For dessert, choose from the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake or the plant-based Johnny Appleseed’s Warm Apple Cake. Drink options include coffee, tea, milk, and soft drinks, and you can order alcoholic beverages at an additional charge.
Now it’s time to dig in!
Food
First, we were served Garlic Herbed Rolls, which are pretty much exactly what they sound like — and they were delicious. It’s hard to go wrong with these!
Next up is the Declaration Salad, which is made with mixed greens, apples, cranberries, and cheese with housemade dressing. A plant-based version of the salad is also available.
We loved the sweet addition of the cranberries and apples! The dressing was a light and fresh vinaigrette that we also enjoyed.
After the rolls and salad, it was time to try the Patriot’s Platter! This comes with roasted turkey, pot roast, oven-roasted pork with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, herbed stuffing, and housemade macaroni & cheese. It also comes with housemade gravy!
The plant-based option comes with plant-based meatloaf, mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy, and seasonal vegetables.
We really enjoyed the roasted turkey, even though one MickeyBlogger is not a huge fan of turkey! It had good flavor and was nice and juicy. The pork roast was also tender and delicious, and the least favorite of the meats was the oven-roasted pork, which was quite dry.
The stuffing and mashed potatoes were spot on, and the cranberry sauce was exactly what you’d expect. Our least favorite of the platter was the green beans because they didn’t have any additional spices or flavors (that we could taste).
One of the stars of the side dishes was the macaroni & cheese, which surprised us with how cheesy it was! It’s a great option for kids and picky eaters.
For dessert, we chose the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake, made with vanilla, coffee, cake, chocolate sauce, and vanilla ice cream. It was definitely ooey and gooey enough to stick in our teeth — but it was SO good. Plus it comes in a cast iron?? 100/10.
Review
So, what’s the final conclusion? Liberty Tree Tavern remains a solid restaurant choice in Magic Kingdom — however, there are a few factors you may want to consider.
This is a HEAVY meal, and on a hot Florida day when you’re riding a ton of rides, it may not be the best idea. It’s also probably not a restaurant you want to visit for lunch after eating a big breakfast just a few hours earlier.
There are plant-based food options here, but other than that there are not a whole lot of dishes or sides to choose from, so if you or your group has picky eaters, you may want to skip.
But if you’re REALLY hungry, looking for a classic American atmosphere, or love eating Thanksgiving dinner, Liberty Tree Tavern is definitely one of the restaurants to visit in Disney World! It’s one of the lower-priced all-you-can-eat restaurants in Disney World, and you can really get your money’s worth of food.
In our experience, it’s not terribly difficult to find a reservation for Liberty Tree Tavern most days, so it can also serve as a great last-minute option. Just make sure you’re hungry!
