*NSYNC Revealed That They Almost Appeared in ‘Attack of the Clones’
In recent years, Star Wars has been no stranger to cameos. From Ed Sheeran, Tom Hardy, and Daniel Craig in the sequel trilogy to the more prominent appearances of Lizzo and Jack Black in The Mandalorian, the galaxy far, far away is no stranger to celebrities.
As it turns out, however, perhaps the biggest cameo in Star Wars history was left on the cutting room floor.
On Sean Evans’ Hot Ones, NSYNC sat down for one of their first major interviews since announcing their reunion and dropped the bomb that they actually played Jedi in Attack of the Clones.
Living Out the Dream
More specifically, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and JC Chasez shot a cameo in the film’s Battle of Geonosis scene. According to Chasez, the group even had to learn a little bit of sword choreography.
“It’s very true. We were the three,” Kirkpatrick confirmed.
According to Timberlake, the trio called the rest of the band still in awe of what happened.
“The dumbest thing though, as we were doing the scenes, you’re literally going phvrmm phrvmm like an idiot,” recalled Fatone.
The Cameo Was Cut
In the end, however, the cameo never came to be. According to Bass, “They got cut out anyway”.
“Didn’t the Star Wars fans go crazy that’s why they edited it? Yeah, they did not like that idea,” Bass revealed.
While NSYNC fans never got a chance to see the boys in a Star Wars film, according to Kirkpatrick the footage exists somewhere.
“They do [have it] because they filmed it. I have asked [producer] Rick McCallum, ‘Where’s the footage?’ Because I know he has it. So let’s get that footage, please, I want to see it,” Kirkpatrick said.
Hopefully, one day the footage will see the light of day.
