Disney Settles Magic Key Lawsuit Out Of Court
The lawsuit against Disneyland for its Magic Key Holder program is coming to an end.
The suit revolved around Disney’s introduction of park pass reservations at the Disneyland Resort. With the onset of the reservation system, guests needed to book a park pass in addition to purchasing a ticket for the day.
For those who were Magic Key Holders, this meant that their annual passes no longer guaranteed entry to the most magical place on Earth.
Dream Key Holders Sue
The lawsuit in question was filed by Janale Nielsen both as an individual and on behalf of other Dream Key Holders.
Disneyland’s Dream Key was advertised as an annual pass with no blackout dates.

In their suit, Nielsen argued that Disneyland had violated the terms of the Dream Key by implementing the park pass requirements.
The Two Sides Settle
In the latest turn of events, the lawsuit will be settled out of court after a joint motion to adjourn the case and settle was filed.
The latest motion came following an in-person mediation. Now, both Disney and Janale Nielsen have agreed to settle the suit.

While terms of the settlement will remain confidential, both parties have until August 31, 2023, to finalize the agreement.
Nielsen had initially been suing for over $5,000,000.
Disney Changes Terms and Conditions
Following Nielsen’s lawsuit, Disney added language to the terms and conditions of the Magic Key pass sales. They now state that guests waive their right to pursue litigation related to the pass.
