Ample Hills debuts Star Wars Ice Cream
Ample Hills Creamery and Disney have a great partnership. A few years ago, Ample Hills opened its first ever location outside of New York City at Disney’s Boardwalk at Walt Disney World Resort. Keeping with both the theming of Disney’s Boardwalk and Ample Hills itself, the ice cream shop fits perfectly with the turn-of-the-century, Coney Island/Jersey Shore themed Boardwalk. Since Ample Hills originated in Brooklyn, I can’t think of a better ice cream company to have set up shop at a resort modeled after Coney Island itself! The Brooklyn-born creamery is churning and scooping flavors that are both classic and eclectic, and if you visit the Boardwalk, you can even sample an exclusive flavor made just for the resort.
Ample Hills and Disney certainly have some sort of partnership going on, and that partnership is even more solidified with the ice cream company’s latest creation: Star Wars inspired pints! Cozying up on the couch with a movie, a big metal spoon, and a pint of ice cream is my dream Friday night and with The Last Jedi out on Blu Ray and DVD, you can finally pair any Star Wars movie night with an appropriate ice cream! Let’s take a look at the flavors as described by Ample Hills:
“First Order: To showcase the monolithic, fierce power of The First Order, salted dark chocolate ice cream represents relentless villainy, while cocoa powder, bittersweet chocolate and a dash of powerful espresso reinforce the dark side.” –Ample Hills
“Resistance: A celebration of the spirit and determination of the Resistance fighters who stand against the First Order, The Resistance is a brown sugar and vanilla bean ice cream with an assortment of mix-ins: passionate, fiery red-velvet ooey gooey butter cake, hard-edged toffee pieces and spirited, hopeful mini marshmallows.” –Ample Hills
“The Force: Inspired by the harmony and peaceful nature of the Jedi, The Force illustrates the precarious balance between the dark and light side with sweet cream ice cream, swirled with rich chocolate fudge, and set against a galaxy of white and dark chocolate pearls.” –Ample Hills
According to the company’s website, the ice cream pints are available for shipment as a set. If you’re looking for a unique birthday present, thank you gift, or just want to make the day of your neighborhood Star Wars fan, the 3-pack of pints is the perfect solution!
I was very tempted to splurge on a shipment for myself, but I’ve discovered a little loophole that might tickle your fancy. If you’re in the New York metro area, you can pick up individual pints at Whole Foods! I popped into a Whole Foods for my usual grocery order and was both floored and elated to find all three flavors in the freezer section. Is it just me or does the First Order flavor look a lot cooler covered in frost? Either way, don’t wait to place an order for the pints as the flavors are strictly marketed as limited edition products. Which of the flavors sounds most appealing to you?
