‘Descendants’ Star Cameron Boyce Passes Away at the Age of 20
It is with a heavy heart that we here at MickeyBlog share the news that Cameron Boyce, star of the much-loved ‘Descendants’ films as well as the Disney Channel hit ‘Jessie’ has passed away at the age of 20.
On Saturday night various news sources including ABC news started reporting on the actor’s passing with his family confirming reports, revealing that his death was due to an ongoing medical condition resulting in a fatal seizure.
The family went on to release the following official statement:
“It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron,” a spokesperson said on behalf of the Boyce family. “He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated. The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. “We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”
Many Disney fans have grown up with Boyce who started his career with Disney back in 2011 in the role Luke for the long-running Disney Channel Show ‘Jessie’ which ran until 2015. He also originated the role of Carlos (the son of Cruella de Vil) in the immensely popular Descendants films of which the third instalment starring Boyce is slated to premiere in August. Boyce also worked on other noteworthy Disney productions including ‘Jake and the Neverland Pirates,’ ‘Liv and Maddie,’, and ‘Bunk’d.’
Disney CEO Bob Iger had this to say of Cameron’s passing:

According to ABC, in addition to his work with Disney, Boyce dedicated himself to charity work introducing former Vice President Joe Biden at his Biden Courage Awards in March and was honored with the Pioneering Spirit Award by the Thirst Project for which Boyce raised $30,000 to provide clean drinking water in Swaziland.
