Sosa Family Cigars Closed and Gone at Disney Springs
Our MickeyBlogger is at Disney World today, where he noticed that a familiar business is no longer in service. Sosa Family Cigars is closed and gone at Disney Springs.
Earlier, the shop was still visible on the app, as seen in the photo below. Now, however, the page cannot by found on the Disney World and Disney Springs websites.
Sosa Family Cigars
Halfwheel reports that Sosa Family Cigars was one of the most visited cigar stores in the world. It officially closed on Monday, January 2, 2023.
The location was a fixture of Walt Disney World Resort for 25 years. Previously, the family’s Fuego by Sosa was featured in Disney’s Pleasure Island, which closed in 2013.
Arby Sosa states, “Honestly, it was just time. We had an amazing run of over 25 years.”
He added, “The last two years were the best two years when it came to sales. We are thankful for Disney having my family as a tenant for over a quarter of a century.”
In 2019, Disney banned smoking within its Parks. That being said, Sosa Family Cigars was located in Disney Springs, where smoking was still allowed.
Arby Sosa attributes the success of the shop to a fellow family member. He states, “Without my cousin Alex Sosa running the show, the store wouldn’t have been as amazing as it was for so many years.”
While the Disney Springs location has closed, the Sosa family sells cigars through Antillian Cigar Corp. The family’s tobacco history began in Cuba in the early 20th century.
It continued into Miami and the Dominican Republic. Here’s a look at the former location.
