This Day in Disney History: November 7th
If there is one thing we here at MickeyBlog love, it is Disney history! With the hundredth anniversary of the company coming up next year, I thought it would be fun to look back and see the milestones that have happened each day.
November 7th is another particularly important day in Disney history! From film releases, to theme park changes, this day in has it all. So, let’s get into it, shall we?
Paul Pressler Becomes President of Disneyland Resort
On this day in 1994, Paul Pressler was named president of the Disneyland Resort.
After first joining the Disney company in 1987, Paul Pressler headed the Disney Store in 1993 before moving on to Disneyland. Although his tenure is often remembered for some cost cutting measures, Pressler would also oversee the opening of Disney’s California Adventure.
Shake It Up Premiers
On this day in 2010, Shake It Up, Disney Channel‘s newest sitcom premiered!
The show followed the lives of CeCe Jones (Bella Thorne) and Rocky Blue (Zendaya), who land their dream jobs as backup dancers on a local show titled “Shake It Up Chicago”.
Shake it Up would run for three seasons, totaling 75 episodes. The show would launch the careers of both Thorne and Zendaya, before finally ending its run in 2013.
Big Hero 6 is Released
On this day in 2014, Big Hero 6, Disney’s 54th animated feature film was released!
The movie tells the story of a young robotics prodigy, Hiro Hamada, and Baymax, his late brother’s healthcare provider robot, who form a superhero team.
Big Hero 6 would go to be both a critical and box office smash hit, and even earn an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Over the years the franchise has continued to grow.
In 2016, Big Hero 6: The Series, debuted on Disney XD. Six years later, in 2022, a new spinoff titled Baymax! finally debuted on Disney +.
Paint the Night Ends at Disney’s California Adventure
On this day in 2018, Paint the Night ran for the final time at Disney’s California Adventure.
The parade was initially created for Hong Kong Disneyland as that park’s nighttime parade, before it was shipped over to the United States.
Paint the Night would debut at Disney’s California Adventure on May 22, 2015, as part of the park’s 60th anniversary Diamond Celebration.
