Disney’s Best Bites for February 2019
Calling all Disney foodies! With the passing of each month at Disney’s theme park and resorts comes a slew of brand new eats and treats! If you’re lucky enough to be visiting the parks in the weeks ahead, we have some tasty dishes that you’ll definitely want to incorporate into your dining plans. So, make a note of your favorites and Bon Appetite.
Walt Disney World:
Starting over at Walt Disney World, there’s a new must-try dish ad DIsney’s All Star Music Resort. The Lasagna-Pasticcio comes with baked layers of stracciatella, Bolognese sauce, pasta Bechamel sauce and is topped with a house-made Pomodoro sauce. It is served with a fresh breadstick. You can pick yours up at Intermission Food Court.
Our next stop is Narcoossee’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa where they have recently introduced the Pan-seared Georges Bank Day Boat Scallops. This dish is a must-try and is made with Parisian gnocchi, shiitake mushrooms, pumpkin, brown butter-truffle cream sauce, shaved black truffles and fried sage!
A new menu has made it’s way to the Backlot Express. Highlights include the Backlot Burger with Angus beef, barbecued pork and pepper jack cheese. Sandwich lovers will not want to miss the delicious Cuban Sandwich with classically press roasted pulled-pork, sliced ham, swiss cheese, pickles and mustard. Those looking for comfort food need look no further than the Chicken and biscuits featuring homestyle buttermilk biscuits, crispy chicken tenders, country gravy, spicy strawberry glaze and bacon crumbles. Those looking for lighter fare will love the Southwest Salade which comes with mixed greens, crispy wonton, black bean relish and avocado tossed in vinaigrette dressing. It can also be ordered with a grilled chicken breast.
Dessert at Backlot Express is equally as delicious. We love the Key Lime Verrine made up of layers of key lime custard and graham cracker. It is finished with whipped cream and white chocolate garnish.
At ABC Commissary at Hollywood Studios they are debuting a delicious new treat, the Apple Tart making the perfect ending to a delicious meal. Over at BaseLine Tap House you can now order up your beverage in a souvenir cup. It can be filled with on of the many beers, ciders, wines and cocktails on tap. We think it pairs nicely with the amazing Bavarian Pretzels being served there or the California Cheese and Charcuterie Plate.
Capt. Cooks at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has also received a menu makeover. Some of the new dishes include a Turkey Club Melt with roasted turkey, bacon, tomato, Havarti cheese and sun-dried tomato mayonnaise on multigrain bread. Vegetarians will love the plant-based burger served with arugula and roasted pepper-tomato chutney on a brioche bun. There’s also the Pan Asian Noodles with vegetables and tofu, and Asian-style Grilled Chicken Salad with rice noodles and Mandarin Oranges or an Iceberg Wedge with bacon, roasted tomatoes, mozzarella, blue cheese and ciabatta bread.
Other options at Capt. Cooks include the Tuna Salad with mixed kale greens, avocado, Kalamata olives, tomatoes, a hard-boiled egg and citrus dressed. And Finally to our favorite- Chicken Wings! These come tossed in your choice of Hawaiian tamarind, Korean barbecue, Parmesan black pepper or buffalo sauce. There’s also delicious flatbreads including the new Seafood Flatbread topped with shrimp, scallops, calamari and a creamy lobster tomato sauce. Or for early risers, try the Morning Flatbread with eggs, bacon, sausage, and house-made sausage gravy.
Over at the Banana Cabana at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, they are now serving up a hearty lunch menu. Appetizers include Jerk Chicken Wings, Chilli Con Queso, and Loaded Sweet Potato Fries. Salad lovers will want to try the Chilled Seafood Salad with conch and shrimp. There’s also Sebastian’s Salad with mixed greens, avocado, red pepper, black beans, cilantro-lime vinaigrette and the option to add grilled jerk chicken. There are also some delicious sandwiches like the Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger, a Jerk Chicken Sandwich and a Smoked Turkey Sandwich. There’s even a Caribbean-style Cheesesteak! This unique treat comes with braised beef brisket, smoked gouda, and grilled peppers served on a Cuban roll.
Kids will also love special options including macaroni and cheese, a smoked turkey sandwich and a choice of tortilla chips or apple slices.
Disneyland Resort:
There are new tiki drinks at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel. The first is the Tangaroa Cooler and comes with gin, almond syrup, falernum, angostura bitters, and juices of grapefruit and lemon. The second is the Sea Monster’s Embrace consists of dark rums, gin, brandy, passion fruit, falernum and juices of lime, orange and pineapple.
In addition to the delicious new drinks are also must-try menu items including the Panko-crusted Long Beans, Shipwreck Nachos, Fried Spam Musubi and more! All of the items above can also be ordered up at the newly re-opened Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill right next door.
