Dining Plans Are Back at Disneyland Paris – Here’s What This Could Mean For Disney World
So the one question I’ve been asked more than any other when it comes to planning a Disney getaway is whether or not Disney World will be brining back the dining plans. Though we haven’t seen the return of pre-paid dining packages in 2021, Disney World hasn’t given any indication that they are planning on retiring dining plans for good. In addition, Disneyland Paris recently updated their Dining Plan options effective March of 2022 and it may be a sign of things to come stateside.
If dining plans do come back to Walt Disney World in 2022, it goes without saying that there will be updates to the packages and pricing similar to what we’ve seen with the switch from a Disney FastPass service to a paid for Disney Genie+ service.
We are seeing something similar in play at Disneyland Paris where they are introducing a new dining plan category and have increased pricing.
First, it’s worth noting that Dining Plans at Disneyland Paris are categorized a bit different than in the US.
Currently there are two dining plans and for each plan guests can choose whether they want Half Board or Full Board. Here’s a quick look at the difference between each:
- Half Board – Hotel Breakfast followed by lunch or dinner in a restaurant of your choice
- Full Board – Three Meals a Day
Currently Disneyland Paris has 2 dining packages that guests can choose from:
In addition to Half Board or Full Board guests visiting through March 30th 2022 must choose between a Standard or Plus option. Here’s the differences between the two.
- Standard Option
- All you can eat buffet at the hotel at select restaurants at Disneyland Paris Including soft drink.
- Cost: $33.04 per child for half board and $48.38 per adult for half board.
- Plus Option:
- All of the options you get from the standard package
- Table service dining with a set menu.
- Cost: $44.84 per child for half board and $67.26 per adult for half board.
As we mentioned, Disneyland Paris is changing things up a bit beginning March 31, 2022. The Standard and Premium options will still be available with slight prince increases and Disneyland Paris has also added a 3rd “Extra Plus” option. Let’s take a look:
So as of March 31, 2022 the plans are as follows:
- Standard Option:
- Restaurant Type: NEW- Table Service Restaurants with a dedicated Meal Plan Menu, all-you-can-eat buffets and quick service restaurants. Incudes soft drinks at every meal
- If Full Board is Added plan will include: 1 table service meal a day, 1 meal (lunch or dinner) on your last day at quick service location.
- Pricing: Half Board Plan will be increasing to $36 per child (Up $2.96) and for adults it will be $58.80 which is an increase of $13.96.
- Plus Option:

- If Full Board Added I meal (lunch or dinner) on your last day at the restaurant of your choice.

- NEW: Extra Plus Option:

- Extra Plus Drink.
- Pricing: $90 per child and $142.80 per adult FULL BOARD ONLY.
Now, it should be noted that Disneyland Paris does operate on a meal voucher system, with vouchers being distributed according to the plans above. With that in mind, comparing it to Disney World’s dining plans and speculating on what is to come is a bit like comparing apples and oranges. However, it may give us a sense of what’s to come stateside.
Firstly, we see the reintroduction and reworking of the Disneyland Paris dining plans as a positive sign that Disney doesn’t want to do away with dining plans altogether. The fact that they are now available in other parks makes us optimistic we may see the dining plans return to Disney World at some point in 2022. However, it is also safe to assume that similar to the FastPass system, Disney will use this as an opportunity to re-work and reprice the existing plans. We see hotel and ticket prices go up year-on-year at Walt Disney World so it is also safe to assume that this will be reflected in new Disney World dining plan options as well.
I would also venture to say that Free Disney Dining Plan discounts may not make a return. With Disney rethinking free perks including FastPasses and airport transportation and given the fact that prices in general are inflated due to the pandemic along with the losses experienced by the company during the COVID-19 shutdown, we may not see vacation package discounts on the scale that we once. did.
All this is just speculation of course and remains to be seen. We’ll be paying very close attention to dining plan developments in the year ahead. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with us here at MickeyBlog for further news and updates.
