Beach Club Holiday Carousel Revealed
In the world of holiday traditions at the Walt Disney World Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Carousel ranks high on the list of must-see decorations. Today, the incredible team of pastry chefs behind this year’s creation unveiled their remarkable artistry in the hotel’s lobby.
This year’s theme celebrates the 1989 feature film, “The Little Mermaid.” Each horse features a different important piece to the storyline, including the treasures of Ariel’s grotto.
Ariel’s horse displays a bold red mane in a nod to the princess’s flowing crimson locks. Sebastian and Flounder celebrate the sounds of the holidays with a sheet music-covered golden steed.
The detail in the characters’ facial features are especially impressive!
Of course, Ursula recevied her own horse as well complete with purple accents and octopus tentacle patterns speckled throughout the design. Flotsum and Jetsum appear to have wrapped themselves right in with the Christmas lights.
The incredible detail of Prince Eric’s horse seems fit for someone of his prominence. A miniature Max finds himself perched for the ride. Also, this horse includes not one but at least two of the golden Hidden Mickeys embedded within the carousel’s design. Overall, guests can search for 21 golden Hidden Mickeys this year speckled throughout the display.
Almost 30 people from Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club pastry team came together to craft the whimsical design. Celebrating its 21st year, the Gingerbread Carousel required 100 pounds of eggs, 200 pounds of icing, and 2020 pieces of gingerbread, according to the plaque at the site.
Aside from the golden Hidden Mickeys, the carousel also features a nod to another golden celebration going on at the Walt Disney World Resort right now: its 50th anniversary.
Mickey silhouttes can be found carved out of gingerbread as well, surrounded by icing-based snow and fields of poinsettias.
Carousel Snacks and Sips
Throughout the day, guests can indulge on a variety of sweet holiday offerings during a visit to the carousel, including chocolate covered Oreo pops.
Not only do the pops celebrate the resort’s 50th anniversary, but some also carry the carousel’s theme with characters like Ursula and Ariel appearing on the chocolate exterior.
Festive offerings abound, including these darling snowmen dipped marshmallows.
Gluten-free treats are also available as well as a classic stollen bread and fudge sampler.
After 5 p.m., the resort also offers a Hot Chocolate Bar with both non-alcoholic and alcoholic specialty choices available.
Grabbing a specialty cocoa and a Mickey crispie treat sounds like a great way to spend a relaxing evening at the Disney resorts this holiday season.
Disney’s Beach Club is an EPCOT area resort. To access this peaceful retreat, guests can walk from the International Gateway at EPCOT or from Hollywood Studios. The Skyliner also makes a stellar way to stop by the Beach Club, again stopping at the International Gateway location. From Hollywood Studios or EPCOT, there is also a short boat ride available to the resort.
