Construction Update: Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Happy Wednesday Disney friends!
We popped by Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort where work continues on the porte cochere and monorail station.
Though the Polynesian may have recently reopened and all of the guest room refurbishments are completed, the new front entrance of the resort is still a work in progress.
As you can see, teams were hard at work today on the thatching.
Roofing is also still being worked on over the monorail platform itself.
Construction is still continuing at a steady stream at the Poly.
We can see noticeable changes every time we pop by like the Mid-Century Modern divider walls on the monorail platform.
We love those bold pops of red, orange and yellow.
While this work is being carried out at the Poly, monorail services is suspended to and from the resort.
Scaffolding is still in place so that workers can continue construction on all three levels: The porte cochere, monrail platform and roof of the Great Ceremonial House.
It looks like those monorail dividers are still being put into place.
You can see plastic covering those that have just been installed.
As of going to print, Disney has yet to announce an officially reopening date for the new entrance.
However, we suspect that Disney is working hard to make sure that the porte cochere is open in time for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration which officially kicks off on October 1st.
Look at how positively stunning the thatching looks.
We’re always blown away by the incredible craftsmanship that goes into these refurbishments.
This is a story that we’ll continue to follow closely.
