VIDEO: Refurb Scrims Coming Down, 50th Anniversary Emblem Up
Some of the refurb scrims in Magic Kingdom around the Main Street Train Station are coming down and the 50th Anniversary Medallion is up, and MickeyBlog.com has coverage!
The 50th Anniversary Celebration of the opening of Walt Disney World begins on October 1 and lasts 18 months. Moreover, preparations began in earnest this summer. Yesterday, two new developments had our MIckeyBloggers rushing to the Magic Kingdom in earnest.
“A surprise stream is always a great stream,” said Greg Antonelle, who joined Elyssa back in the Magic Kingdom on Friday afternoon for an impromptu live stream. “This will be a shorter stream.”
However, the 45-minutes (or so) were chock full of 50th Anniversary nuggets.
Sweet Shots from Magic Kingdom
Check out some of the screenshots.
First up, Main Street and the Train Station:
Firstly, some of the refurb scrims in Magic Kingdom are finally coming down around the Main Street Train Station.
On the left and right of the terminal, you can see exposed architecture.
Heading down Main Street.
Next: Partners Statue and Cinderella Castle
Secondly, on our schedule, Walt and Mickey got some work done.
Walter Elias and “son” have never looked so good.
And an explanation of the work.
Plenty going on, although some staples are still shuttered.
A Goofy Cavalcade makes its way around the roundabout and down Main Street, U.S.A.
Hello, Goofy!
José Cariocas throws a kiss to the crowd.
Now for the new-look castle. The 50th medallion is front and center.
Tasteful, yet bold.
Gorgeous, really.
Looks good from every angle.
But it gets more prominent as you get closer.
And I think it holds its allure even up close.
These photos from the 50th will be coveted for years to come.
Adventureland
We hear there is some new look signage in Adventureland around The Jungle Cruise.
That does look freshly painted.
And the “World Famous” seems to be new.
On the way out, A Princess Cavalcade.
Hello Tianna.
And Aurora.
Finally, some of Donald’s family showed up.
