SPOILER ALERT: “Loki” Threw Quite a Curve Ball
In the most explosive, or implosive, episode yet in “Loki,” we saw many twists and new appearances. While many were on the docket to appear at some point in the show, one stood out as truly surprising.
During the episode, Loki is put into an infinite time loop. This time loop brings him back to an unfortunate run in with none other than Lady Sif, played by Jaimie Alexander. Sif has been absent from the MCU film-wise since 2013’s “Thor: The Dark World.” She did make two appearances on ABC’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” after that, but sat out 2017’s “Thor: Ragnarok.”
Alexander left the MCU to play the leading role in the NBC show “Blindspot.” That show ran for five seasons from 2015 to 2020 and left Alexander unavailable for any MCU projects during that time. Luckily for Marvel fans, the end of that show means she will appear in the upcoming “Thor: Love and Thunder” to once again be the third wheel to Thor and Jane Foster.

Teased a while back by Alexander herself, Sif’s appearance in the time-loop scene is not the only cameo as the scenario itself comes from Norse mythology. In the legend, Sif had golden hair. It was this hair that Thor admired the most about her.
Because of this, while Sif was asleep, Loki cut off all of the golden hair. This angered all the gods, and they forced Loki to replace the hair or face execution. This sent Loki on an errand of further mischief. He had the dwarves make new hair for Sif as well as a golden ship for Frey and a golden spear for Odin. After this, he pitted the dwarves against each other to attempt to out-do what they had done by wagering his own head (and only his head).
This wager resulted in the creation of Mjölnir (Thor’s magic hammer), a golden boar and a golden band. Loki returned with perfect gifts for all the angry gods while tricking the dwarves by explaining that to take his head they would have to take his neck too, thus nullifying the deal.
As expected, award-winning actor Richard E. Grant also made his “Loki” debut in the new episode. The appearance of Sif as well as Norse mythology helped put an exclamation point on the best “Loki” episode yet.
