Tasty Treat Tuesday – Try the “Grey Stuff”
Welcome back to Tasty Treat Tuesday here at Mickey-Blog.com!
We all know that Walt Disney World is known for its iconic eats – popcorn, pretzels, ice cream and even Mickey waf-fles. Every Disney vacation, I immediately head to the nearest quick service spot and grab my favorite classic treat – The Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar. The rich dark chocolate shell wrapped around soft vanilla ice cream is the perfect start to my vacation! Magic starts with that first bite!
HOWEVER – did you know that the theme parks are about SO much more than those classic well-loved treats? Each week, I’m ready to show you a unique tasty treat and where to find it on your next Disney vacation!
So, come join me on this weekly journey to find your new favorites! It’s time to create a new tradition!
Tasty Treat: The “Grey Stuff”
One of my FAVORITE scenes in Beauty and the Beast is when Lumiere welcomes Belle to the Beast’s castle for a fanciful introduction to … Dinner!
The moment is grand and the song is pure joy!
But did you know that there is a restaurant in Walt Disney World where guests can actually TRY a food straight from the movie?!? This week’s edition of Tasty Treat Tuesday will immerse you into the wonder and magic of Beauty and the Beast with the “Grey Stuff”!
What is it?
A combination of vanilla and milk chocolate mousse whipped together with heavy cream and mixed with finely crushed chocolate sandwich cookies. Piped into a swirl and often topped with crunch pearl sprinkles.
Why try it?
Be our guest, be our guest! Put our service to the test.
Tie your napkin ’round your neck, cherie and we’ll provide the rest. Soup du jour, hot hors d’oeuvres – why, we only live to serve! Try the “Grey Stuff”, it’s delicious …
But is it, really? If you like chocolate sandwich cookies or cookies & cream ice cream, then – YES – the “Grey Stuff” is just that … delicious!
I, personally, love the stuff and could devour an entire pint of it in one sitting. Thankfully, for my waistline, it is served in a smaller amount! Normally, something grey would be viewed as unappetizing and unappealing to most visual eaters. However, one taste of this treat will change your mind about the color. The mix of chocolate and vanilla is subtle and does not overpower the chocolate sandwich cookie flavor. The cookies are crushed so fine, the texture remains smooth and creamy.
Where can I find it?
The “Grey Stuff” can be found in Walt Disney World’s Mag-ic Kingdom at Be Our Guest Restaurant. Many are familiar with this beautifully themed restaurant where every square inch of space evokes the magic of Beauty and the Beast. Three dining rooms recreate scenes from the movie, in-cluding the dark and stormy West Wing where the en-chanted rose slowly drops its petals and the Castle Gallery which features framed photos of Belle and Beast’s adven-tures. My particular favorite is watching it “snow” outside the Grand Ballroom, where Belle and Beast shared their first dance in the movie.
You can enjoy the “Grey Stuff” at both breakfast, lunch and dinner in two different forms. The more formal, table ser-vice dinner serves the “Grey Stuff” in its purest form while lunch and breakfast offers a more casual version called “The Master’s Cupcake” where it is piped onto a chocolate cupcake like frosting.
Don’t delay, though! Be Our Guest Restaurant is one of the hottest tickets in town. Reservations for lunch, dinner (and breakfast) are highly recommended and should be booked as early as 180 days in advance! Have you tried it yet? If not, make a reservation at Be Our Guest Restau-rant and let me know what you think of the “Grey Stuff”!
