Orlando Airport Grounds Incoming Flights Due to Storms
Weather can be a challenge in Florida — especially for people traveling by air.
While storms and rain are not exactly fun in the parks, they can be a lot more annoying when you’re trying to start your Disney World vacation — but your flights are delayed or, worse, canceled due to weather. Unfortunately for many travelers intending to get to Orlando today, they may have encountered some issues.
Orlando Airport Grounds Flights
As of 2PM ET today, Orlando International Airport (MCO) put a Ground Stop in effect.
A Ground Stop means that departures to MCO are fully grounded, which in this case was due to thunderstorms.
Departures from MCO were also delayed by an average of 15 minutes.
As of 4PM ET, MCO upgraded to a Ground Delay, with incoming flights delayed at an average of 123 minutes.
Departures from MCO remained delayed by an average of 15 minutes. You can keep track of MCO’s active events here.
According to Weather.com, a strong thunderstorm is predicted to pass through the area by 4:45PM, so we’re crossing our fingers that the storm passes quickly and everyone can get started on their Disney World vacations sooner rather than later!
