Canadian Disney World Guests WILL Be Able to Make Lightning Lane Selections Before Arrival
Earlier this week, Walt Disney World announced that it would be phasing out the Genie+ with a new Lightning Lane Pass system.
The system will debut on July 24 and have two different tiers. Guests can purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass or a Lightning Lane Single Pass.

The new Lightning Lane Multi Pass will essentially work like the old Genie+ system, allowing guests to reserve Lightning Lane access to three attractions at whichever Disney World park they plan on visiting.

The Lightning Lane Single Pass, meanwhile, will work in the same way that the current Individual Lightning Lanes do, meaning guests can make their selections a la carte.
Guests Will Be Able to Make Lightning Lane Selections 7 Days Before They Arrive
While the new Lightning Lane Pass is largely just Disney changing the name of its pay-to-skip-the-line system, there are some noticeable improvements.
The biggest change is that guests staying at a Walt Disney World resort will now be able to make their Lightning Lane selections up to seven days before their vacation begins (those staying off-property can book 3 days in advance).

No longer will guests have to wake up at the crack of dawn on the day of their park visit to purchase Genie+ and make thier attraction selections.
Taking a page out of the old FastPass+ system, the new Lightning Lane will let guests plan ahead.
The Rules For International Guests
As part of their initial Lightning Lane Pass announcement, however, Disney seemed to indicate that international guests would not be able to make their Lightning Lane selections until they arrived in the United States.

This wrinkle in the new system sparked concern, particularly from Canadian Disney World visitors who worried that they would not be able to take advantage of the new system’s perks.
An Update For Canadian Guests
Well, I am happy to report that Disney has since clarified their initial announcement, and Canadian guests WILL be able to reserve their Lightning Lane passes seven days in advance!

As of right now, guests visiting Walt Disney World from other countries will still have to arrive in the United States before making their Lightning Lane selections.
