Rahul Kohli Clarifies His ‘Fantastic Four’ Casting Comments
Late last week, House of Usher star Kahul Kohli made some waves when he seemed to indicate that he had been in the running for the role of Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards in the upcoming Marvel Studios film The Fantastic Four.
For years, Kohli was frequently named by fans as the actor that they would like to see assume the role of Mr. Fantastic in the MCU. Interestingly, when the topic of fan dream casts came up during a recent appearance on the Salaam Nerds podcast, Kohli seemed to reveal that he had actually been considered for the role.

“Yeah, I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it but I didn’t get it, is the important thing. But on good days, I see the Constantine,” Kohli said. “It will flare up once and again. And, I love all of them. On good days, you’re like, ‘Man, I’m wanted!’ People really want to see. You’re the guy that people will shout out for anything.”
The Story Grew Legs of Its Own
After the interview was released, Kohli’s comments were quickly picked up by fans and media alike. The prevailing story became that the actor had been in contention for the role of Mr. Fantastic before ultimately losing out to Pedro Pascal. However, that was not the case.
In a subsequent post on his Instagram story, Kohli explained that he had simply been talking about fan casting and how it affected him. He was not trying to insinuate that he had been in the actual running for the role.

“This is being blown way out of proportion. I wasn’t gonna address it but I guess I have to now. I said during a podcast ‘I didn’t get it.’ It didn’t say I was in the running or I lost to Pedro Pascal or I was being considered or close to being in it. I just didn’t get it and it was part of a larger point about fan casting and mental health,” he wrote on his Instagram story.
Kohli Lauds Pascal
The confusion surrounding Kohli’s initial comments seemingly stemmed from the actor’s assertion that he was not allowed to talk about it.
In his second statement, Kohli was clear that he was excited that Pedro Pascal got the role.
“As for the role, Pedro is one of my favourite actors out there. A lovely person, and I can’t think of a better actor to play Reed. We were never ‘up against each other,’ I was never even in his league to begin with. I’m stoked for him and can’t wait to watch! Apologies everyone, lesson learned,” he ended his post.

In the end, it doesn’t sound like Kohli was particularly close to joining the cast of The Fantastic Four.
