Walt Disney World Wait Times for Memorial Week 2024
The arrival of Memorial Day means one thing for Disney fans.
We’ve officially entered the busy season at Disney theme parks.
Now that school has ended in some parts of the country, vacationers are ready to pack their bags and head to Main Street, U.S.A.
In simplest terms, we should expect the crowds to surge in the coming weeks.
Lately, late June has been the busiest time on the annual calendar until Christmas.
Thankfully, Disney does an excellent job in managing crowds for the most part. So, we may not notice much, at least at first.
Here are the Walt Disney World wait times for Memorial Day Week 2024.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
We can tell plenty from a single ride. Animal Kingdom typically follows the lead of Avatar Flight of Passage.
When that attraction’s average wait time increases, everything at the park often does as well.
For this past week, the Pandora ride required an average wait of 83 minutes, which is down eight minutes from last time.
Meanwhile, Na’vi River Journey, the less popular sibling, averaged a wait of 60 minutes, which is four minutes less than last time.
Here are Animal Kingdom’s other average attraction wait times last week:
- Kali River Rapids – 51 minutes, up 9
- Adventurers Outpost – 47 minutes, down 3
- Expedition Everest – 44 minutes, down 4
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – 32 minutes, down 6
- DINOSAUR – 23 minutes, no change
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug! – 15 minutes, up 5
- TriceraTop Spin – 10 minutes, no change
Overall, Animal Kingdom guests stood in line for an average of 40 minutes per attraction, which is three minutes less than last time.
I should add a couple of tidbits here. The first is that this data doesn’t include Memorial Day itself.
The holiday fell on the following Monday. So, we’re discussing the week leading up to the holiday, not the holiday itself.
Also, the uptime at Avatar Flight of Passage impacts its wait time. When it’s down less often, the wait times drop.
So, the ride’s efficiency last week played a factor in its shorter wait time.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Given the surprise at Animal Kingdom, I’m anxiously awaiting the data for Hollywood Studios.
If this park’s average wait times have dropped as well, we’re in for a real surprise overall for Memorial Day Week.
Here are Hollywood Studios’ average wait times:
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – 86 minutes, up 8
- Slinky Dog Dash – 79 minutes, down 11
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 54 minutes, down 5
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 54 minutes, down 8
- Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – 54 minutes, down 7
- Toy Story Mania! – 53 minutes, down 3
- Red Carpet Dreams – 39 minutes, down 2
- Alien Swirling Saucers – 37 minutes, down 3
- Celebrity Spotlight – 19 minutes, down 2
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue – 17 minutes, up 2
- Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – 15 minutes, no change
- Muppet*Vision 3D – 10 minutes, no change
Overall, the average Hollywood Studios attraction averaged a wait of 40 minutes, which is three minutes less than last time.
So, yeah. We’re halfway through the Walt Disney World data, and the parks appear slower during the holiday week. Go figure!
EPCOT

- Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros – 13 minutes, down 1
Overall, EPCOT guests spent an average of 36 minutes in line per attraction, which is four minutes less than last time.
Magic Kingdom
At this point, the trend is clear. For whatever reason, the crowds weren’t the same at Disney World last week.

- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – 67 minutes, down 9

- Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress – 5 minutes, no change
Final Thoughts
Overall, Magic Kingdom guests waited for an average of 27 minutes per attraction, which is two minutes less than last time.
To a larger point, the overwhelming majority of Walt Disney World attractions experienced a dip of average wait times this past week.
That’s highly unusual for a holiday week as a rule. Again, we’re discussing the week before Memorial Day, though.
As such, don’t be surprised if next week’s wait times look entirely different as the crowds start arriving in Central Florida.
