Make-A-Wish and Lightning McQueen Team Up to Make One Young Fan’s Dream Come True
After 40 years of making magic together, Disney and Make-A-Wish continue to team up to fulfill the wishes of kids all over the world.
In celebration of last week’s World Wish Day, Disney is shining the spotlight on some of the recent wishes granted at its worldwide theme parks.
With that in mind, I want to introduce you to 8-year-old Heison, the ultimate Lightning McQueen fan.
Heison’s Story
The brave young man completed treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2019. After finishing his treatment, he was asked what his wish was. His answer was simple — to meet the character who gave him strength during his treatment and whom he admired for his speed — Lightning McQueen.
When Hong Kong Disneyland heard about Heison’s wish, they jumped into action. As it turns out, the young boy’s passion for race cars expats behind Lightning McQueen, but to all kinds of fast vehicles.
With that in mind, Hong Kong Disneyland invited Heison to take part in the Lightning McQueen Procession at Hong Kong Disneyland, where he not only got to roll with the 7-time Piston Cup champion himself but also racecar driver Jonathan Hui.
A Parade Fit For a Champion
As the procession made its way down the road, Heison was cheered on by 400 guests, including other wish children and their families, medical personnel from Hong Kong and Heison’s home of Macau, and Disney VountEARS.
Heison’s story is one of millions of wishes that Disney and Make-A-Wish have helped come true over the last 40 years. To learn more about their magical partnership, visit worldwish.org/Disney
