Disney Is Set to Make a Triumphant Return to the Annecy Film Festival
The Walt Disney Company is set to return to the Annecy International Animation Film Festival this year in a big way.
According to an official press release (via TheWrap), Disney will “unveil a handpicked selection of new releases that promise to bring fresh, captivating adventures to all the family.”
At Annecy, Disney will host a screening of the upcoming Pixar film Inside Out 2, a sneak peek of Moana 2, and a special 30th-anniversary screening of The Lion King.
‘Moana 2’ Preview and ‘The Lion King’ Screenings
The Moana 2 presentation will feature the film’s director, Dave Derrick Jr., and co-director, Jason Hand. The highly anticipated sequel to 2016’s Moana is set to hit theaters on November 27, 2024.

The Lion King anniversary screening, meanwhile, will feature an introduction by Disney Legend Mark Henn, who served as the supervising animator of young Simba. In addition to the festival screen, there is expected to be a second screening at a local hospital “to give children and hospital staff the chance to experience ‘moments that matter to those who need it most.’”
Disney Television Animation Celebrates 40 Years
Disney Television Animation will also host a 40th-anniversary celebration titled 40 Years of Disney Television Animation: Past, Present, and Future.

The panel will take a comprehensive look at Walt Disney Animation from its launch in 1984 through today.
Among those comprising the panel will be Meredith Roberts, executive vice president of Disney Television Animation; Dan Povenmire, co-creator and executive producer of Hamster & Gretel and Phineas and Ferb; Rob Laduca, executive producer Mickey Mouse Club House; Steve Wermers-Skelton and Kevin Deters from Monsters at Work and Bruce W. Smith and Ralph Farquhar from The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.

There will also be a second panel titled Storytelling Through Music. Moderated by Jay Stutler, senior vice president of Music at Disney Television Animation, the panel will focus on how music is used in family entertainment.

The Disney Animated Television festivities will conclude with a screening of Big City Greens the Movie: Spacecation on June 14.
20th Television Animation Makes Will Make Its Annecy Debut
Finally, 20th Television Animation will make its Annecy debut this year with a June 14 panel titled Bob’s Burgers: In Conversation With Creative Team Behind the Emmy-Winning Series.
