Disney Unveils NEW World of Frozen Cast Member Costumes!
Disney fans will finally be able to explore the Kingdom of Arendelle on November 20th, when the World of Frozen opens at Hong Kong Disneyland.
In preparation for the new land’s opening, Hong Kong Disneyland Manger of Costuming Eva Chan and Senior Costumer Angel Sin were presented with the opportunity to create a new look for the Cast Members who will soon become official citizens of Arendelle.
Combining Their Talents
Eva has worked for The Walt Disney Company for 25 years and has been at Hong Kong Disneyland since the park opened. Along the way, she has created all kinds of cast costumes covering attractions and hotels.
Angel, on the other hand, worked on the Disney Explorers Lodge cast costumes when she joined the Hong Kong Disneyland team 6 years ago.
Together, the two artisans used their joint experience to add special touches to the new World of Frozen Cast Member costumes. They have even made the wardrobe customizable and weather-ready!
World of Frozen Cast Member Costumes
The costumes worn at World of Frozen were inspired by traditional Norewigan bunads. Making the attire even more special is the fact that pieces like the vests are reversible. Others are even interchangeable.
In total, there are five shirts ranging from royal purple to icy blue, multiple shades of breeches, and even fun accessories like sunflower hair clips, hair scarves, and sashes. With these, the citizens of Arendelle can truly customize their looks.
The hair scarves and sunflower hair clips will be available for purchase at Tick Tock Toys & Collectibles.
Arendelle Village
Inside the Arendelle Village side of the World of Frozen, the costumes take on a more floral and elegant design.
Decorative touches on these costumes take inspiration from the Scandinavian Viking heritage and the European baroque and rococo styles of the 18th and 19th centuries.
Arendelle Forest
Across the Fjord, in Arendelle Forest, guests will notice that Cast Members working at Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs have taken inspiration from the attraction. The color palette here uses earth tones, similar to the forest landscape.
While Arendelle is a cold place, Hong Kong is typically humid. With this in mind, Eva and Angel made the costumes from light and moisture-wicking fabrics.
The Cast Member costumes even have a themed raincoat and water bottle cover that features the same rosemaling details found throughout the land!
World of Frozen Name Tags
Last but certainly not least, the Word of Frozen Cast Member name tags feature their own flag noting the location where the Cast Member works. Among the locales that got their own flag are Frozen Ever After, Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs, and Tick Tok Toys & Collectibles.
I for one, can’t wait to meet the citizens of Arendelle and see the costumes in person! The World of Frozen opens on November 20.
