10 Ways Disney Parks Have Inspired the All-New Disney Treasure
While everyone will absolutely fall in love with Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, those who are Disney Parks Fans will love it even more! (And, I mean, who isn’t a fan of both?!)
To bring the beloved storytelling known in Disney Parks around the world to the high seas, several venues aboard the Disney Treasure have been inspired by iconic attractions and experiences in the Parks.
Here are 10 secrets Disney Cruise Line just revealed, showing how Imagineers have brought the magic of Disney Parks to venues aboard the Disney Treasure, including the Periscope Pub, which has been inspired by the Disney Parks attraction, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea; Skipper Society which used the Jungle Cruise for inspiration; and the Tomorrowland Tower Suite that has been designed to pay homage to the popular Walt Disney World Park, EPCOT.
Let’s take a closer look!
Skipper Society and The Jungle Cruise
- If you have ever experienced Jungle Cruise in Disneyland Park, you will have noticed the flora and fauna around the waterways to give one the sense they are sailing around the globe. In the Skipper Society aboard the Disney Treasure, Guests will also find this same exact foliage species that is found in Disneyland on the attraction.
- If you look closely at the concept art for the Skipper Society, you will see some vintage-style luggage stacked behind the bar. But, what one might not notice is that each sticker that is covering the suitcase is representative of locations from the Jungle Cruise, including everyone’s favorite – the backside of water!
- The walls inside the Skipper Society on the Treasure will be tones of green and red. These colors are actually the same as the ones of the Jungle Cruise attraction building in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World!
- Hear that?! That’s just the joyous sound of Skippers from Jungle Cruise attractions in Disney Destinations around the globe! As an added bonus, the Skipper voices will be in various languages, including English, Dutch, French, Cantonese, and more!
- Imagineers have given the Skipper Society a jungle boat name of its own! The vessel that houses the Skipper Society has been named the “Ems Empress” – which is after the Ems River, which will be where the Treasure makes her first voyage to sea. An “Ems Empress” sign will even be hung inside the venue.
Periscope Pub and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
6. While visiting the Periscope Pub, Guests will notice an array of artifacts, drawings, and books used by Captain Nemo and his crew while underwater exploring on the Nautilus.
7. While in the Periscope Pub, Guests can look closely and see some hidden numbers behind the bar. Those numbers are actually the exact nautical coordinates of the shipyard where the Disney Treasure is coming to life, Meyer Werft, as well as the hull numbers of all of the ships in Disney Cruise Line’s fleet.
8. The menu that will be offered in Periscope Pub will offer undersea-inspired drinks and craft brews! There will even be three beers on tap exclusively brewed to celebrate the “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” movie and the attraction at Disney Theme Parks.
Tomorrowland Tower Suite and EPCOT
9. Figment is definitely the man of the hour at EPCOT currently. But that’s not the only place fans of the iconic purple dragon can get their fill of cuteness! Inside the Tomorrowland Tower Suite aboard the Disney Treasure, fans can look for Figgy hiding out in various locations throughout the luxurious suite.
10. Guests of the Tomorrowland Tower Suite will also find an exclusive sculpture at the bottom of the suite’s spiral staircase representing EPCOT’s signature landmark, Spaceship Earth. Upon entering the suite, the sculpture will come to life with music and special lighting effects.
