ABC To Air ‘Ms. Marvel’ This Fall
With production in Hollywood ground to a halt due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Disney is dipping into its well of Disney+ content to help fill ABC’s schedule this fall.
The Disney+ series Ms. Marvel will become the first Marvel Studios-produced series to debut on cable television this August.
A Change in Strategy?
Debuting episodes of an MCU series is a big step for Disney, which has previously been weary of airing its Disney+ content on traditional cable.
With that being said, the company has experimented with airing episodes of other Disney+ series, including The Mandalorian.
Following the announcement that WGA would be going on strike, however, many insiders wondered whether or not Disney would dip into its streaming vault to fill ABCs schedule.
Why It Makes Sense
While Disney may worry that they are taking some of the allure away of Disney+ by airing exclusive content on linear TV, in the case of Ms. Marvel, the move makes sense.
With The Marvels set to hit theaters this November, allowing non-Disney+ subscribers the opportunity to get invested in Ms. Marvel’s story ahead of her next adventure.
Ms. Marvel ABC Scheudle
Interestingly, Disney is choosing to air all six episodes of Ms. Marvel in two three-hour blocks.
The ABC Schedule will be:
Saturday, August 5
Episode 1 – “Generation Why” – 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET
Episode 2 – “Crushed” – 9:00-10:00 p.m. ET
Episode 3 – “Destined” – 10:00-11:00 p.m. ET
Saturday, August 12
Episode 4 – “Seeing Red” – 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET
Episode 5 – “Time and Again” – 9:00-10:00 p.m. ET
Episode 6 – “No Normal” – 10:00-11:00 p.m. ET.
While there are currently no current plans to air any other Marvel series on ABC, if Hollywood production remains shut down, Disney may have to dip back into the vault.
