Canada, Starbucks, and Space, Oh My! EPCOT Construction Expands throughout Park
Each week, the ongoing developments at World Celebration, the central hub of EPCOT’s remarkable transformation, bring such excitement. From the parking lot to the water testing at Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, we cannot wait for the enormous construction projects to wrap up at the innovative theme park.
Today though, we took a closer look at a few other refurbishment projects going on around EPCOT, specifically in World Showcase and World Discovery.
Former Starbucks Site Continues Transformation
Vacant now for over a year, the building-formerly-known-as-a-Starbucks location continues to evolve. We noticed that the logo was recently taken down, leaving only its outline.
Obviously, there is more to this project. The construction walls extend beyond the building’s foliage out into the walkways at World Showcase.
Canada Pavillion Gets a Touch-Up
Over the past few days, the Canada pavillion began what appears to be rather extensive work to the exterior of one of its main structures. Guests planning to visit the pavillion’s tucked away waterfall from above will instead want to visit from the lower level as this work progresses.
With scaffolding extending to the building’s metal roof, the refurbishment here might center on some routine polishing.
The wooden stairs that lead to the “Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360” theatre also found themselves cleverly blocked off today.
Space Pavillion Work Yields New Pavement
Back in World Discovery, the Mission Space and Space 220 pavillion also joined the EPCOT construction project list. Though arbovitae blocking the view, we did peak to notice that crews tore out a section of the speckled pavement that features at this out-of-this-world site.
With the area already mainly cleared, it looks like construction here should be swift with leveling and repaving still to be done.
World Discovery Splash Pad Reopens
On our way over to Mission: Space, we happily noticed that the refreshing splash pad that sits at the center of World Discovery reopened yesterday. After work over the past week, it appears the pad’s flooring needed a few patches.
Like so many other projects at EPCOT, guests enjoyed the improved space, especially on such a warm summer day!
