Walt Disney World Wait Times for End of June 2024
We’ve witnessed some big changes lately at Walt Disney World and learned more about coming soon.
In three weeks, Disney will overhaul the former Disney Genie+ virtual queuing system into Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
At that point, theme park wait times should fluctuate a bit, with some possibly changing dramatically.
Meanwhile, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has opened, while Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will close soon for refurbishment.
Also, in a surprise twist, another attraction has returned much sooner than expected, although that won’t impact this week’s data.
So, we have plenty going on, some of which will impact Walt Disney World wait times for the end of June 2024.
Let’s check what’s what.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Cinderella Castle
The biggest change with this week’s wait times will occur at Magic Kingdom.
The arrival of the Tiana ride will impact other attractions. Now that Disney can meet additional demand, it can control the crowds a bit.

You shouldn’t miss the timing of this tactic, as Tiana opens just in time for the late June/early July rush.
So, the numbers should still increase, at least at that park, but Tiana will temper them.

The spillover effect shouldn’t affect Animal Kingdom much, but it’s still, you know, the week before July 4th.
People travel at this time of year, with Disney World being a popular destination.

Keeping all that in mind, here are Animal Kingdom’s wait times last week:
- Avatar Flight of Passage – 88 minutes, down 12
- Kali River Rapids – 57 minutes, up 5
- Na’vi River Journey – 57 minutes, down 7

Overall, the average Animal Kingdom attraction required a 41-minute wait, four minutes less than last time.
That’s somewhat surprising because we’re at the inflection point on the tourist calendar when crowds should swell.

So, we have a bit of a mystery here. Let’s check the other parks to learn more.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Let’s start with the big news that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will return by the time you read this.
Disney caught everyone off-guard by updating the return date to July 1st.
While the throughput on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster isn’t the greatest, it’ll still thrill guests by offering another E-ticket attraction.
That could help with July 4th crowd management, although I remind you that the 2023 holiday was…weird.

But that’s the story for next week, not now. How were the crowds at Hollywood Studios last week? Here are the average wait times:
- Slinky Dog Dash – 96 minutes, down 2
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – 76 minutes, down 11
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 66 minutes, down 8
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 56 minutes, down 6

Overall, Hollywood Studios guests waited for an average of 39 minutes per attraction, which is five minutes less than last time.
So, the end of June rush still hasn’t hit Walt Disney World, at least based on the first two parks.

We’ll discuss this more in the Final Thoughts section, but it’s an interesting turn of events.
EPCOT

This park will change its behavior a bit under the new Multi Pass system. I sketched out a few thoughts here.
The most important thing to remember is that Disney has brought back the tiered system at EPCOT.

Guests will choose from a top line of three attractions, two of which are the ride’s most popular options.
When that happens later in July, we may track some changes, especially with the rides requiring the longest wait right now.
For the time being, it’ll be status quo, though. Here are EPCOT’s average attraction wait times:
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure – 68 minutes, down 2
- Frozen Ever After – 55 minutes, down 7
- Soarin’ Around the World – 44 minutes, down 11

Final Thoughts

(Olga Thompson, Photographer)
Overall, the average Magic Kingdom attraction required a wait of 29 minutes, which is five minutes less than last time.
As an FYI, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure would have impacted three days of data.
While the attraction doesn’t offer a standby queue, that’s oddly irrelevant to this conversation.
The new ride lures guests to Frontierland, a different area of the park where few are hanging around.
So, the return of the former Splash Mountain space redistributes Magic Kingdom crowds more effectively.
Still, the data here is clear. Only a handful of attractions increased or held their average wait times from the prior week.

Growing crowds
Overall, Disney World was slower during the last week of June, which is perplexing.
Over the last two years, it’s been Disney’s most crowded time of the year. What does this mean?

We’ll know more over the next few weeks, but it’s interesting.
