How Will The WGA Strike Affect Star Wars Content?
While much of the discussion around the WGA strike has revolved around how it will impact network television, the strike will also have profound effects on the Streaming landscape.
At a time when Disney continues to wrestle with the profitability of streaming, the strike could not come at a worse time.

First came the news that Andor‘s production was being affected by the strike. Now, we are starting to get a better feel for how Star Wars’ other shows are feeling the heat.
Ahsoka
Of the upcoming slate of new Star Wars shows, the show least likely to be affected by the strike is Ahsoka.

With the live-action series set to be released in August, the show is well into post-production.
Skeleton Crew
Skeleton Crew on the other hand, reportedly finished filming several months ago.
While the writing for the show is concluded, it is possible that the show’s creatives could pause production out of solidarity.
The Acolyte and The Mandalorian
The two shows most likely to be affected by the strike are The Acolyte and The Mandalorian.
The Acolyte was set to wrap in May, meaning that the show was likely still filming when the strike began. While it is possible that the principal writing and shooting were completed, the show’s production would still likely be delayed by the strike.

Meanwhile, Jon Favreau has stated that he has already written all of The Mandalorian Season 4. With the show likely at least a year away from returning, the WGA strike will certainly impede progress.

Outside of Ahsoka and perhaps Skeleton Crew, Lucasfilm and Disney will feel the WGA strike where it may hurt them the most, at the heart of their streaming strategy.
