More Disney100 Pressed Penny Collectibles Bring Sparkle to the Magic Kingdom
Howdy folks, and welcome back to a segment I’m hereby referring to as “Pressed Penny Watch” here at MickeyBlog!
Today, our hunt for Pressed Penny Collectibles has taken us back to the Magic Kingdom where not one, but two machines have been updated with beautiful designs in celebration of The Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary. So, grab your albums, and let’s go see what we can find!
Some of the most beautiful days at Disney begin with a trip to the Emporium, and that’s where our journey begins today. If you’re looking for pressed pennies with a Magic Kingdom theme, or featuring some of the most iconic characters, this gorgeous store is always a great place to head to.
Plus, it’s here where pressed penny hunters can find an awesome range of albums specifically designed to display coin collections, so this magical store really is a collector’s hotspot!
The first machine we’re heading to is located by the door, and carries four new pressed penny designs featuring that spectacular “Disney100” logo. Being such a special event, we just know these coins are going to be highly collectible and sought-after designs, especially since the demand for pressed pennies seems higher than ever before as of late.
Do you remember on Splash Mountain’s last day of operations in the Magic Kingdom, back in January? Well, the line for the attraction’s pressed penny machine was longer than we’ve ever seen on that day, assuring us that these cute little collectables are securely back in fashion amongst park-goers!
Looking at this Emporium machine, however, we can see that the four new designs for the anniversary feature images inspired by some beloved classic characters. There’s a coin featuring Pinocchio next to the Disney100 logo, and another with Buzz Lightyear.
There’s also a couple of coins sure to appeal to Peter Pan lovers at this machine, too, with a Captain Hook design, and another featuring Peter, Wendy, and Tink flying through the stars.
As well as these new designs, the machine is also stocked with four non-anniversary coins, depicting Mickey and Minnie, Snow White, Tinker Bell, and Mickey and Pluto next to the title “Magic Kingdom.”
Cute collectibles from a favorite park!
If you’re having a hard time choosing which of the coins to purchase, there is a small window displaying each of the eight designs on the front of the machine. Our MickeyBloggers took a few detailed photos for you, so you can take a closer look…
We do love all of these new designs at the doorway pressed penny machine inside the Emporium, but the collection doesn’t stop there.
As I mentioned above, there’s two machines stocking new designs inside this store, so let’s go check the other one out, too!
As you can see from the above photo, this second machine is located further inside the store, next to the partition walls dividing the shop’s sections.
Like the first machine, this one also features a touch-screen selection panel, accepts card or cash payments, and has a handy display window for guests to view the designs available. So, with that being said, let’s check out the second round of pressed penny designs!
Like the first collection inside the Emporium, this machine has four designs specifically for the 100th anniversary, each featuring characters posing against the Disney100 logo. It’s the classic gang of characters featured here, however, with pennies including our favorite icons all dressed up in their anniversary best!
The first penny features Mickey and Minnie, with Donald and Daisy on the second. Goofy and Pluto are posing together on the third coin, and we can see Chip and Dale looking as adorable as ever on the fourth. So cute!
The other coins available at this machine also feature Magic Kingdom designs, with Minnie and Daisy, Princess Aurora, Pooh and Tigger, and Mickey, Donald, and Goofy each featured.
If you’re looking to buy any of these pennies, the machines accept card payments or notes, so gone are the days of needing pennies and quarters. Each coin costs $1, or the machines allow you to purchase all eight of their designs for $5, if you can’t choose just one!
If you’re a pressed penny collector looking for other Disney100 designs across Walt Disney World, be sure to stay tuned to MickeyBlog as we aim to find them all!
We’ve already spotted designs at Epcot and inside Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and we’ll be on the lookout for many more as the anniversary celebrations continue!
