Disney Holiday Gift Guide 2022 Part II

Okay, we’re already far enough into the holiday gift-giving season that friends are already complaining to me that I shopped too early.

Seriously, I’m one gift to my brother away from being done for the year. So, I already know how holiday shopping plays out in 2022.

The cycle starts with “I should shop online for everything,” continues with “why is my package lost???” and ends with “Okay, gift cards for all!”

I’m still in the “calling the post office every day to check on mishandled deliveries” phase. But I know all the best gifts to give this year!

Here’s the second of three holiday gift guides I’ll post for 2022!

For the Marvel Fan in Your Life

Okay, you still have plenty of time to order online and receive packages in time for the holidays, presuming you celebrate Christmas or Chrismukkah.

Even so, I’d suggest that you hedge your bets just in case your package deliveries go as poorly as mine have.

Seriously, I was sitting at a restaurant last Saturday night and got a panicked call from a UPS delivery person asking me for directions to a friend’s house in Oregon. I’ve…never been to Oregon.

Yes, supply chain issues are slowly correcting and should be solved by next spring. Package delivery remains an exercise in random chance.

For the Disney Candle Fan in Your Life

This is the fifth annual holiday gift guide that I’ve written for MickeyBlog. Each year, I’ve always highlighted Disney fragrances.

I do this because I don’t live in California or Florida. So, I know from personal experience how challenging it is to bring the magic home.

One of my favorite methods involves Disney candles, waxes, and room sprays.

I’m not exaggerating when I say that we have an entire kitchen pantry area dedicated to these things.

In truth, what I miss the most when I’m not at Disney are the intoxicating fragrances.

Shut your eyes and imagine the scent from Main Street, U.S.A., the hotel lobby at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, or the landmarks shown on Soarin’.

Each one comes with a distinctive aroma, all of which enterprising Disney fans have recreated.

I love that I can order candles that smell like the Rome fire on Spaceship Earth or the waters of Pirates of the Caribbean.

In fact, I love this ability so much that I subscribe to a Magical Fragrance Box.

For about $30 a month, I receive a package that includes an eight-ounce candle, “room spray, wax melt, and air freshener for your car.”

For pet owners, those room sprays are a godsend. They’re the difference between my smelling the lobby of Disney’s Beach Club Resort vs. animal stuff I don’t want to smell.

My wife has three sisters, and their parents did something brilliant a few years ago.

My in-laws carefully picked out a series of coloring books for Christmas that year. Each one fit the personality of the daughter in question.

As I sat there and watched this unfold, I was caught off-guard by the passionate response to these gifts.

The only other thing I’ve witnessed similar to it recently was a Viewmaster full of childhood photos, which is a non-Disney gift I recommend if you can make that happen.

Anyway, after that Christmas ended, I did some research and was genuinely stunned by the scientific benefits of coloring. The Mayo Clinic even has a page about it.

Obviously, you can find any number of Disney-related coloring books this holiday season.

However, I’ll suggest this Disney Dreams Collection Thomas Kinkade Studios Coloring Book because it’s less than $10 and absolutely gorgeous.

This is an inexpensive gift that comes with a lot of soul.

For the Disney Reader in Your Life

We’re a TikTok society now. We want quick videos, preferably featuring adorable animals misbehaving or children saluting Disney Princesses.

I get that, and I’m not about to fight societal norms. Still, I know for a fact that many people still like to do this old-school thing called read a book.

As the author of multiple books, I’m extremely grateful for these people.

Disney has dialed back its publications in recent years, but it made an exception for a marvelous piece of the company’s history.
