Speaker and Motion Sensor Racks Added to ‘Dinosaur’ Ride Vehicles
Imagineers have been busy adding a new layer of safety precautions to the ‘Dinosaur’ ride vehicles in Animal Kingdom. This weekend, odd-looking, rack-like structures have begun popping up on select ride vehicles.
With the ride vehicles having been in operation for exactly 30 years, it was unlikely that the racks had anything to do with ride functionality.
After speaking with a CM at the attraction, we learned that these new racks do in fact serve a purpose: to both enhance the attraction’s on-ride audio, and to monitor guests who attempt to stand up while the ride is in motion.
Speakers and motion sensor cameras are affixed to the racks on the back of the vehicles, ensuring that they don’t interfere with guest views of the attraction. Not every vehicle has been fitted yet, but expect to see the enhancement across all vehicles in the coming weeks.
