VIDEO: Dapper Dans Delight on National Barbershop Quartet Day
The four-part harmonies of the Dapper Dans dazzle each day on Main Street U.S.A., but this morning’s opening performances really added a special touch on this National Barbershop Quartet Day. The charismatic group greeted guests entering Magic Kingdom from the balcony of the Walt Disney World Railrod station on Main Street U.S.A. with barbershop classics, Disney favorites, and even a few cheesy puns.
“Where does Buzz Lightyear like to shop? … Bed, Bath, and BEYOND,” joked one of the Dapper Dans during the performance. Famous in part for their cheeky humor, the classic quartet also showed off their incredible talents with their voices sliding up and down scales in perfect harmony.
After a round of crowd-engaging tunes, the performance finished off with the quartet’s traditional farewell “so long” song, really showing off the range of pitches that the talented cast members hit with ease.
With performances throughout the day, catching the Dapper Dans at least once on Main Street U.S.A. tops many guests’ must-do lists. Their vaudeville-style act always includes the colorful suits and straw hats that have characterized the vintage act for decades.
Puns often catch a laugh or two in the a capella show. Sometimes, they even throw in the occasional chime feature or tap routine too.
Make sure to check the entertainment schedule on the MyDisneyExperience app for showtimes or the Dapper Dans page on DisneyWorld.com. Though we spotted them today at the train station, the Dapper Dans perform along Main Street U.S.A. Sometimes, they even perform on the trolley car as it journeys to Cinderella Castle in the morning.
Showtimes start at park opening and go well into the afternoon with the last performance often just following the 3:00 p.m. showing of the Festival of Fantasy parade.
