Disney CEO Chapek Announces Community Grants
During this morning’s “Good Morning, America” segment live from Magic Kingdom, Disney CEO Bob Chapek presented a huge grant announcement. Not only did he discuss the Magic Makers campaign, but he also announced millions of dollars in charitable giving for people making magic in the Orlando community.
“Walt Disney World has been a part of the Central Florida community now for many years, and now, we know that you are honoring commitment to the community with charitable grants of three million dollars,” introduced GMA host Amy Robach before turning the conversation back over to Chapek.
“Our local community here is really something that we feel very much a part of. I mean, Orlando is Disney World and Disney World is Orlando. Their pretty much inextricable, and we just thought that a really nice way to commemorate the 50th would be to recognize people that are doing things, particularly for family and kids in the local community. It’s our way of giving back and again making the celebration go beyond the boundaries of the park and into the fabric of the community,” Chapek said.
Following Chapek’s announcement on GMA, Disney Parks Blog shared more information about the local charities receiving the financial awards.
“We are proud to partner with Give Kids The World Village, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, Heart of Florida United Way, Hope Partnership and ELEVATE Orlando as we work together to find solutions to important matters throughout our region and empower all individuals to create a brighter tomorrow,” the blog posted.
What an incredibly generous and meaningful way to tie the local community into today’s celebrations that not only celebrates Disney’s tradition of giving but 50 years of the Walt Disney World Resort being part of the Florida community.
