Scaffolding is up at Splash Mountain in the Magic Kingdom
Things are a bit chaotic over at Splash Mountain in Magic Kingdom these days!
Over the past couple of weeks, during some of the hottest days of August, Splash Mountain was drained and closed to the public.
We’re pleased to report today that the ride is back up and running however, there is scaffolding along one of the sides of the ride.
We aren’t sure as of yet regarding the size and scale of the work being carried out.
It could be some minor work to the facade which we are seeing at alot of attractions these days as Disney World readies for its 50th Anniversary celebration.
Or, it could be something more significant.
For Princess Week this week, Disney has delved a bit deeper into its plans for a Princess and the Frog makeover for Splash Mountain.
By doing so, Disney is hoping to distance itself from some of the controversial elements of the rather dated Song of the South.
Jungle Cruise is undergoing a similar change replacing elements that were no longer culturally appropriate.
However, according to Disney, the retheming of Splash Mountain could still be a ways off.
It is also estimated that it could take quite some time to complete.
That being said, it’s worth noting that repairs being carried out just now are NOT related to the retheming of the attraction.
Rather, these repairs seem to be related to the ride in it’s current form.
At the moment, it does not seem that the scaffolding or any repairs being done has an impact on the running of the attraction.
We’ll be keeping an eye on it though and promise to let you know as soon as we know more!
