Disney+ Will Introduce Marvel’s Ironheart
As we continue to catch up with the near-infinite number of new Marvel shows in the pipeline, we’re still typing.
However, I realized I already posted about Ironheart back in 2019:
Reports: Possible Disney+ “Ironheart” Show Staring Robert Downey, Jr!
Let’s face it. To several generations of fans, Robert Downey Jr. will ALWAYS be Iron Man.
But with his character arc concluded in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), there’d have to be some other way for Iron Man to return besides RDJ donning the suit.
Well, Marvel figured out how to do it.
But before we get to the new Disney+ show, check this out:
Ironheart – Riri Williams – Marvel 101
While attending M.I.T., fifteen-year-old Riri Williams created a suit of armor that could rival Tony Stark’s.
Okay, now you are caught up. And we can turn to more recent events.
Marvel’s Christine Dinh posted:
During The Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day, Kevin Feige, president, Marvel Studios, and chief creative officer, Marvel, announced a second series coming to Disney+ — Ironheart!
Marvel Studios’ Ironheart stars Dominique Thorne as genius inventor Riri Williams who creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man himself, Tony Stark.
The new original series is coming to Disney+!
And The Hollywood Reporter added:
[Riri Williams] quickly became a breakout character, and in addition to being the hero Ironheart, she has also taken over for Tony Stark as Iron Man for a time and went on to headline her own comic series.
Leading a Marvel series continues an upward trend for Thorne, who made her film debut in Barry Jenkins’ If Beale Street Could Talk, and will next be seen in Judas and the Black Messiah, Warner Bros.’ film about Black Panther leader Fred Hampton, which also stars Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield.
Ironheart is one of ten series Marvel will roll out over the next few years, and Feige has emphasized that the films and Disney+ shows will weave into one another.
I can’t wait to see the MCU move onto the small screen.
