Giacchino Appeared In Star Wars: Episode IX
Michael Giacchino is an amazing composer. He has written three of my favorite non-John Williams or Randy Newman scores: Star Trek (2009), Tomorrowland, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
And now, he’s apparently a Star Wars Sith Trooper, too.
Nobelle Borines of EpicStream.com wrote:
Just when you thought you’ve spotted all of the awesome cameos in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, another one has just been revealed. Composer Michael Giacchino has just confirmed that he was in the J.J. Abrams film and he had a truly cool role to boot.
Giacchino decided to greet Abrams on his birthday by sharing a photo of himself with the director from the set of The Rise of Skywalker…
Interestingly, Giacchino was also in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The composer played a Stormtrooper in Episode VII, most notably the one who shoved Poe Dameron into the ground in the opening scene.

Also, looking at Giachinno’s IMDB.com page, it seems as if he’s been busier than we think on-screen:
So, apparently, the same Stormtrooper is in both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Ralph Breaks the Internet.
But enough about Giacchino in costume. Let’s hear him in concert:
Of getting to pen Rogue One’s score, Giachinno told StarWars.com:
I remember when I got the call and I was like, “Really? Are you kidding me?” And to be honest, working on something like Rogue One was really appealing to me because it was a chance to play in this world that I loved, but also do my own thing. I wasn’t compelled to use what had come before to any great extent other than what I felt was appropriate. They gave me a lot of freedom to choose which direction to go and how to do it. And in my mind, I wanted it to feel like a Star Wars movie….
And it certainly did feel — and sound — like a Star Wars movie.
